Why hello chaps! Ehhh I mean G'day all! (I havent gone full british yet)
It's been a good few months since I last posted anything. I've been in London 2 months now and haven't even had a chance to get the detector out and look for any relics, work has been keeping me busy, and by busy I mean I did 45 hours just this weekend running around the set of a Ridley Scott film.
I did manage to get in one last prospecting trip before I left the sun for the rain and found 3 little pickers! First time using the SDC finding one (the fella on the right), and the other two with a 5000 for a total of exactly 1/2 a gram! Size doesn't matter when it's your first :p

A big thanks to Maryborough Coiltek for all their help that weekend! I Can't recommend them enough.

Anyway, work in London is going well, so I'll probably be sticking around here for a while longer. But I'll be sure to come back to Aus sometime next year with some prospecting in mind.
In the mean time, I'll be looking into Mudlarking, and hopefully some detecting over here when I get the time. I'm also thinking about a trip to Wales to see if there is any of the yellow stuff left there :p

Sounds like fun AusFX

Have you done a search for some detecting clubs, I am sure they would be happy to have you come along to a club hunt.

I am going to set you a challenge before you come home; find at least one roman coin

Two months AusFX,...your a full on Brit now,...sorry to see you go that way(ha),...hope that lark works for you, although it's probably chilly mud at the moment, I'm sure you should be able to dig up a cannon or two(they probably overlook the huge signals because of the sheer weight of what they'd have to skull drag out through the mud n muck) as well as some old(really old) jewellery and gold coins,.. slip into it mate and score big time(here's hoping for ya).

You could always look up Andy and Lance at the DMDC (Danebury Metal Detecting Club).....

I went along to one detecting/mudlarking club meeting only to find out they no longer met at that venue, since then I've been too busy with work to make it to one.
The difficulty is finding permissions (where land owners say you can detect on their land) or finding someone who has a permission already and is willing to share. It's kind of like letting someone in on your little gold hotspot.

That's the goal Wally :p Even better if it's my favourite kind of metal ;) But I would be more than happy with copper or silver!

I still need to get my mudlarking license, and for the first two years I'm only aloud to dig 7.5cm, so that cannon will have to be pretty close to the surface! I'd be pretty happy if I found an old trade token or something on the thames.

Haha! I just watched that again the other night... Amazing show. Still yet to get out to the actual countryside. Although I did spend a weekend in Budapest for work at short notice, I got to see the Hotel, the bar and the studio... haha

Looks like a busy spot to lark,

But by crikey it sure turns into a fun time after a while, could end up being a bit of dirty trouble for you

So you'll just have to get stuck in to it AusFX(ha).

I do have a habit of getting into a bit of trouble... ;)

I'm thinking of hitting up Folkstone, only a bit over an hour away from London, it has beaches, Roman Villa's fossils and even some shiny stones! Might have to bring the rock hammer along as well.

If I don't make it out detecting soon I will be digging up the front yard, got my new Lesche digging tool and everything :p

Front yards can be surprising !!

I've woken up a few times in the front yard with stuff from my pockets all around me. :D Usually around this time of year too.
If you didn't have VOMIT all down the front of ya Heatho, you weren't having a dip, hahaaa, had that happen once here in Bendigo, and a lovely old lady threw a blanket over me whilst I was hacking up my dinner in her front yard, even got a lovely cup of tea at the end of it with a stern talking to, thanks heaps Mrs Clarksons. :8
Next time I promise I'll keep my Pinkys Pizza down

What a top old lady, the stern talking to was probably words of wisdom well worth listening to mate, lol. I woke up another time on a seat near Manly wharf, didn't know where I was until I saw the ferry pull in. The local hobos even offered me a drink and a ciggie when I woke up, the drink I refused but the ciggie was accepted gratefully.

I don't do stuff like that anymore, it's just not cool. :D

Sounds like my weekend just gone... haha

Found 20 pence... And found out that my backyard is full of junk.
