I Hate Spiders

Hi pete,
No to the spiders, a big YES to the songs.
Some epic songs came out during that time. I loved many of the protest songs of that era too.
note: I served in Vietnam in '69 but I never saw any spiders. (I was in the navy )
Some of the cockroaches on our ship, (HMAS Sydney), were so big they would have eaten any spider foolish enough to set foot on board regardless of how big it was.

Ah The old Vung Tau Ferry. I had a friend who served on it. He was a band member. Doug was his name. Played a trombone.

This was me next to "the ferry" in '69.
I was just about to walk up the gangway for the first time. Bloody kit bag was heavy and I almost dropped it in the harbour a few seconds after this photo was taken.

I remember one day on the old "ferry" the experts were brought in to fumigate the kitchen and mess decks.
Crikey, there must have been millions of dead "cockies". They were inches thick on the deck.
I reckon after they were removed the old ship floated a good metre higher in the water.

I also like big cockies. Yeh you needed to on land to see them. Not many on a ship. but then you were lucky in that regard. Being serious for a moment, you sound like you may have a spider phobia.

Truth is I've been playing it up a bit.
It is true that there was a monster large spider in my living room but I am not really bothered my them.

A Man After My Own Heart.

Just saw this news story online -

FIREFIGHTERS are called to plenty of accidental blazes but this is probably the first one theyve been to that was started by a spider.

Emergency services rushed to an apartment fire in the northern California city of Redding on Sunday after a mans spider-killing abilities went haywire.

The fire started, according to witnesses, when a man had been attempting to kill a huge wolf spider with a blowtorch.

When the spider caught on fire, it scurried to a nearby mattress, which quickly went up in flames.

My local spiders are lucky I don't own a blow torch. I'm silly enough to hunt down spiders with one.
