Hello friends,

I am new and would like to know is it possible to receive formal education on how gold mining exploration and leasing is achieved appropriately?

I looked at tafe but those courses in mining do not seem to cover these topics and looking up the information online can be quite confusing.

Thanks,

Alex :cool:

I'm hoping to start one day my own small scale open cut mining. Did you want to get into it or run your own. Cheers

If you wait around long enough, I'm sure someone will set something up to make a buck and a 'ticket' out of that :lol:
Sorry loopdedoop, I went a bit off track there, Mine Managers ticket or what Ben 78 said

UNSW offer Postgraduate Coursework in Mining Engineering that would cover those areas but it's a lot broader than just exploration & leasing. It basically covers those in a variety of individual courses as well as a broader range of relevant topics I.e Mining Processes would touch on exploration but not be exploration specific, Mining Law would touch on leases etc. but not be leasing specific etc. Other courses would also touch on both of those areas. They are also not gold specific but you can do your study/assignments to be gold mining orientated.

The Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Mining Engineering would cover what your after & much more if you select the right courses.
Each core course & elective is around $2500 so to get to Certificate level would be $10,000 - Diploma $15,000. I think you used to be able to do individual courses as a short course - not sure about now?

Thanks for the answers everyone :)

@lucky streak: Yer I sort of thinking similar. I don't want to work for a big mining company just mine my own claim/lease would be nice.

@mbasko: I will look further into that thanks for giving me some starting info.

@Hunting the yellow: Ok Cheers.
