I use a eBay 2.7kva generator and once it gets down to temp it cycles about 1 min run time every 10 min.
Heats works at -1 but unsure what happens below that temp.

I have it in a little teardrop van so that would help a lot with efficiency.

Shep,
Thanks for posting the info on the cooler.....

I will check them out ....

Have gone away from the portable unit as found being a single outlet and inside the camper was drawing all the sides of camper in. Basically it's drawing air from inside the camper and exhausting it outside hence creating almost a low pressure inside. A portable dual outlet type would probably solve this but hard to get in Australia due to ADR compliance apparently?
Have gone back to a window unit that sits on a fridge stand. Sleave to window courtesy of Double D Leather :Y: Much more efficient set up and being such a small area drops temp in no time. Mounted outside of midge mesh with remote operation keeps the bugs out also. Again may appear to be over kill but I think anyone that has spent a few weeks or more in one stretch in FNQ, would agree it's nice to have some where to retreat to that will give you a break from the heat. Great to have a break in the hottest part of day and go again in the cooler part of the day.

Unit is 2.7 w and smallest I could find with remote and at $400 not expensive. (Fridge Stand $35 posted) Honda 2Kva runs it just off idle. On a side note have found the newer type window units run a lot more efficiently than the older ones, in that had a 10 year old unit which was 1.5w and the 2Kva Honda worked damn hard at running it.

I was about to ask, how this one handles off road- but saw your comment.

Please provide updates on the upgrade.

Could I ask where you brought your broccoli box cooler?

I hope to weld up the chassis in the next day or so, will start another thread and put photos in it.
Originally I was going to build a teardrop from scratch but found this one locally for the right price and it included the aircon.
