Haha hey tathradj I'm going to be making a wal banker at a mates place but was thinking of making two highbankers are there any other Highbankers that you like? I will keep you up to date on booths builds hopefully .

Plenty of good designs out there mate depends what kind of prospecting you plan on doing. If you want something that you can move alot of material youll want something with a hopper rather than the rake rocks style of the wal banker. If your planning on hiking yoir gear in great distances you wont want anything too big and fiddly. Wide sluices mean more water volume =bigger pump so many variables mate id do a Google image search on highbankers and if you have any questions about specific types post em up and ask away. Good luck we all love a diy and we expect lots of pictures

There are many types of Bankers around but bang for buck you cannot beat a Wallbanker for it's simplicity and use.
I 'spose you can go all out with a cube style banker but if you are starting out, The tried and true design will keep you
thirsty for more.
As for liking a particular style, No.
I work under the K.I.S.S. rule.
Keep It Simple Stupid. LOL
If you are going to go all out without any experiance I would think that you would be spending more time trying to work out what was wrong instead of building up to a design that you are happy with.
Biggest cost with any setup is the pump and hoses.
With a simple design that you know will work all you have to do is just set her up, shovel a bit of dirt in and when you see the yellow in the bottom of it. (We all wish that one. LOL) You will be smitten with "The Bug"
Spend more time in practical that design to start with.
You will not regret it.
Trust Me...

Yea I do know that there is a lot of highbankers out there as I have seen them on google images
That is why I am building a walbanker at a mates place pretty soon. You got a pretty good rule going there and yes I have seen the costs of pumps and hoses I guess I'll just have to back to drawing designs thanks.

Well everyones entitled to their opinion mate The walbanker has its own set of issues like any banker and my advice is valid. You cant throw volume through a walbanker. As someone whos built and tested many highbankers to order self clearing hoppers are right up there in priority to alot of prospectors. Simply because if you are prepared to move the material you exponentially increase your return.

You are more than welcome. :)
A WalBanker when set up properly can keep up to a fairly moderate session of shoveling quite easily.
Two people operating it can and will have a lot of fun.
So easy to build, After you have done a bit of work with it, You will learn the dynamics of what is going on and then probably move up to a more sophisticated design.
Me, I am quite happy with mine and it will do me for probably another year.
Then I will start to get curious. LOL
Above all, Just get out there and enjoy it.
We have a Big Country with many twist's and turns plus a fantastic group of well trusted people in the same game.
If some one is doing wrong, It doesn't take long. LOL

Golddigg,
LOL, In no way did that offend me.
Take one heck of a lot more than that mate.
If you did you would soon know. PMSL.

Me, Working on it. Just got some Pabst beer.
8th can and still wondering.
No kick in it.

Lol try standing on your head ;)

I'd encourage a different style if the walbanker is already on the table, gosh I've had some fun making a few different designs. If you can think about the type of material you want to process then maybe a different style might be a good thing. Or variations, rocker box, river sluice, maybe some of your time could be spent building a complimentary piece of equipment to give you different options..... But if your set on another Highbanker there are quite a few very simple plans out there to help. Whatever you decide I'm sure it will give you a great sense of pride to build. Right here on this forum are many great minds to help you and answer your questions. Also I would add longer skinny designs are much easier to use on the practical side than short and fat, dimensions can be quite important to achieve the result or outcome you desire. Remember to start with the end in mind, obviously catching gold is the right answer, but ask yourself from what type of flow, what type of material do you wish to dig and process, classified or unclassified, what methods will you use for capture, what type of matting, riffles, size expanded, slotted or Drilled spray bars, how can I use gravity, how do I adjust the height? I hope I'm not overwhelming you but thinking about what you want to achieve will guide your design. Looking forward to your build buddy. :D

Hey mate I can tell you this if you are going to get serious about gold you will soon become frustrated with the labor intensive walbanker, a hopper takes all the mucking about out of the picture take a look at my latest build its the same size as the walbanker with no taper in the sluice and can handle a truck load more dirt per hour.

So what i am saying is don't settle to quick on the walbanker there is alot of better ideas out there. If you want to know how a sluice works in a nut shell watch the goldhog videos lessons 1-3 this should give you a heads up on what type of riffles to make use of in your build. I would recommend a combination of Hungarian riffles and expanded mesh on miner moss.

Goldtarget thanks so much for this information I will be looking into this information I will most likely build a couple of systems like a rocker box etc. it's all good haha I know that I have to look through a lot of info to build a Highbanker.

20xwater this Highbanker looks great.it also must run great to catch the yellow stuff to! Can you give me the mesurements for this Highbanker or not? Thanks.

Barra_mad this Highbanker looks awesome to a very nice and simple one can I get the measurements for this Highbanker please? Thanks.
