hey guys,
I'm becoming very keen on getting started on my prospecting future. :)
I will soon be buying some pans and a sluice to get started down here, maybe even a metal detector as well.
I'm still looking for a good backpacker unit with water pump so I can go bush :)
Just thought I'd say G'day. and if anyone has any good advise for me it would be welcomed.
Thanks
Luke

Welcome to the forum Luke. You have come to the right place if the prospecting bug has started to bite. You will find some great info here from a very wide and experienced member base, so don't be shy to throw a few questions around.

The basics in a pan and small sluice, is all you need to practice that learning curve with. Best of luck with the new hobby, and hope the gold puts a smile on your face. We all certainly like looking at it, so feel free to post some pics of your finds.

Cheers Wal.

Thanks guys.
I have been doing a bit of research over the last few weeks and am going down the coast to buy some pans and a small powered sluice to begin with.
I just have to buy a backpack/brace to hook all my gear onto. I seem to be having trouble finding one in aus. or getting one delivered.
I will be also investing in a garret atx further down the track hopefully.
This forum is great and I have learnt a lot from it already.
Luke

Have you tried army surplus stores? They should have some good framed backpacks the are durable enough

Welcome aboard Luke - plenty of good advice & pointers in this forum.
cheers Jed

Thanks again for the info guys,

I now know the backpack type I'm looking for is called an Alice frame.
I'm sure I will find one now.

Sparra I'm in Nowra mate.
I was thinking of going toward Yalwal for a practice run to try out my gear when I get it, sometime over the next few days.
There and perhaps up the Shoalhaven river.
