Hi All,

I am from Sydney NSW. Just bought an ace 300i and started looking for places to hunt. I am not sure where to start from, and do I need to get permission from the local council for fossicking in the local parks/reserves and public areas? Can I do it on beaches without permission?

I have contacted my local council (Canterbury) for permission; but, they are not sure if I can go ahead with it, and are taking their own sweet time to answer. I just don't want to do anything illegal and would love to get some advice here.

I am aware that I need to get permit for forest area and National Parks are prohibited.

I had sent a query to the Canterbury council seeking permission to fossick in the parks and reserves. They said it is not permitted, but they cannot stop me prospecting in the area. Being said that, I am not allowed to dig the grounds
