Hi all, I'm a newby. I'm just looking around for my first detector. Taking the advice of many, spend as much as I can afford. Thinking minelab gpx 4500-5000 or SDC 2300. Not sure if to wait a little longer and get brand new or to buy a used 1.

Hi I would go for the gpx 5000 and differently get it second hand there going really cheap now the gpz 7000 out.
Thanks for the advice. I need all I can get Lucky streak.
What would be a fair price to expect to pay for a 5000?

Welcome to the forum.
I have been looking and looking and to me the 5000 are not going cheap.
These are selling in most cases with no warranty and from $4400 onwards with an extra coil.
Not spending all that money on something that has no warranty.
Contact Minelab though or a dealer and get hold of the security card so you can check
the 5000 to see if its genuine.
If you can get a 5000 for around $4400 with 12 months plus warranty left and an extra coil
I think its agood deal.
