Hi to everyone :)
My name is Stan and my wife's name is Maya and we are from Brisbane. We have 2 little children a boy (4yo) and a girl (10yo).
Maya and I have been reading most of the posts here on this forum for some time now.
We think it is absolutely fantastic and all of you guys seem really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. So we decided we had to join this forum. :)
We are fanatic fossickers and have been doing the gems for years and take any opportunity that we can to get out there and do a bit of digging.
I also do quite a bit of cutting, carving and faceting and fully enjoy anything to do with gemstones.
For a long time we have had a burning desire to also do a bit of gold prospecting and decided that 2014 was the year to go all in.
After watching all of Wal and Liz's YouTube videos ( we are big fans by the way and feel like we know them already) I have made myself a dual purpose high banker and am dying to try it out.
I would like to thank Wal and Liz on all of there helpful tips, information and ideas they have shared with us.
We love the idea of being able to look for gemstones and gold at the same time.
We will be going to Nundle and the New England area next week to give it a bit of a go. It looks like you guys had lots of fun out there and a bit of luck too.

I (we) would also like to thank Matt (Nugget) on all the great work he has done here on this forum.
We hope that we will be able to chat and maybe also get the chance to meet up with you all some day in the future.
S&M :)

Welcome S&M I'm not far from you guys up the sunny coast, there's actually quiet a few members from SE QLD, great to see the numbers growing also, keep going on the gems and I hope you guys get some gold in the box too!
Cheers, Sam

Welcome Stan and Maya, thank you for the kind words and I hope you both get a lot of enjoyment out of the forum. I'll be back at Nundle next Saturday 8th Feb, so if you're still in the area maybe we could meet up for a dig.

Hi Matt thank you for your warm welcome :).
We will be coming to Nundle on Tuesday 11th and will stay until Friday. We will be in Glenn Innes on the 10th.We would love to meet up with you if you are going to still be there on Tuesday we have never been in this area so we are keen to give it a go & test our new equipment (highbanker). I'll be digging and my wife will be probably waving (swinging) metal detector. The kids will be running around and scream their heads off lol so we will be very hard to miss. Are there any snakes in the area ? My wife is very concern :p

Unfortunately I'll only be floating about next Saturday and possibly Sunday otherwise it'll probably be another be 3-4 weeks before I get back there. There has been quite a lot of reported snake activity this summer due to the hotter than average temps, but I don't think any were spotted during last weekends forum trip. It's always wise to remain cautious just in case, especially when little kids are involved.

All the best with your trip and be sure to report back with how you go.

welcome to the forum S&M. Great to see you're covering the full spectrum with Gold and also Gems on your itinerary. Having the whole family involved is also a huge plus, and the old saying ... a family that plays together, stays together, always rings true when prospecting is involved.

Glad to hear that you find some of our vids enjoyable, as we're always keen to share our journeys.

Hope your coming trip is graced with success and the gold and gems cooperate for you. With a bit of good fortune this run of hot weather may ease slightly and make the digging more enjoyable.

All the very best of luck with it and look forward to sharing the experience.

Cheers Wal.

Thanks Matt will do that for sure.
My wife and I would definitely like to meet up with you and others members maybe next time or on some other planed trips, we will keep looking on the posts for dates and events coming.

Definitely agree with you Wal.
We all (the family) love to get out there and have a bit off fun and I am trying my best to pass on some of the things I know on to my little ones as I feel this information is being lost to the new generation.
I started with my dad when I was little and loved every minute and my children love the adventure.
I will try and post some picks here once we figure out how it all works here on this forum. :)

Hey guys welcome, Im new also and live down on the gold coast.

I have built a multi purpose hi-banker "thanks to every one here"
Im going to be headed out to the very top of the New England fold in far northern NSW starting at a place called Tooloom and working south from there hopefully picking up some nice places to find gold and stones on the way.
I think I will be starting my adventures some time around the end of the month early Feb. If you guys are headed out that way let me know if im free I would love to come for a dig.
Good luck and stay safe.
Luke
