Hi all,

getting into this prospecting caper and have quickly realised that legwork is what the game is about. I have been researching and exploring some areas not too far from me and stumbled across these diggings. There are some circular structures nearby. I would have thought they would be too small to be puddlers and I didn't think puddlers had corrugated edges as you can see in the photos. Maybe they were some sort of water washing system? Any thoughts would be appreciated, looks like an interesting area.

Water tanks would be my guess as well.

Are they on relatively higher ground to surroundings?
Is there a river/creek flow nearby?

Could have need filled by a ram pump during seasonal flow as storage for the drier times.

Possible a stop on Cobb&Co route to water the horses?

A swing around the area might give the evidence to put the story together.

Probably cyaniding tanks

The image of that page is exactly what it looks like. There are 4 of them in a row, next to an old creek bed now adjacent to a dam. This area is a good 3-400 mm higher than the surrounding area. I am going to try and find out more info about that particular area.

I might have a look around the area to see if there is anywhere a higher tank may have been.

The slightly raised area in the centre of the first image is a good clue, as Heatho suggested; it's probably an old puddler.
