Hi all joined last night. New to detecting just bought an xterra 705 gold pack took it out sunday with my son up near castlmaine and found a small nugget and what looks like some amalgum with a fine layer of of gold over some of it cheers

No worries thanks. I would like to post pictures but ill have to wait till I have enough posts. Im still not sure what im doing. I didnt even Know it was a nugget till i got home . It was black and I couldnt see any gold colour till I lightly rubbed it on some sandpaper and I saw it was gold coloured so I cleaned the rest with steel wool probably the wrong thing to do but im still rapt cheers
