Hello from Syd NSW

Hi All,

My name is Justin and I'm 25yrs old, from Enfield Sydney and metal detecting is my new hobby. I recently went halfs in a Minelab X-terra 705 with my brother-in-law, went out to a tiny beach area in chiswick that is only available when its low tide and found 2 Australian Pennies. We can only see some letters when we wet it and view it from an angle. Good find for our first run, we were only trying to work out how to use the detector and found pennies.

We bough a couple of pans aswell so well look into finding some fine gold when we go camping.

Other hobbies include: Photography and Hunting (Rifles: Remington model 7 .243 & Marlin .3030 lever action).

Grew up in the canterbury areas so my NRL team is the Canterbury Bulldogs, any followers here?

Anyone from sydney that would be keen on a weekend detecting around sydney?

Welcome its a great forum with great ppl I'm not in Sydney but I'm about to start a business taking fossicking and Mining history tours .. I'm based in gulgong NSW but I pretty much know the entire area from ophir orange hill end to here at gulgong and also have access to hundreds of private properties so if ever your down this way n wanna find some great places to try n find some yellow stuff I'd be more than willing to point you in the right direction or take you to a place or two

Mate the places you named above is my fave region for gold in nsw. If ya ever keen for a scratch I'm in, I have a gold bug pro and am waiting in my AM sluice from America and I have a 4x4 so we can go where ever you can take us.

Sounds good bunyip. Will keep you in mind next time im your area. Next weekend im actually going on a hunting trip to Coolabah, so ill be taking my rifles for the night and my detector for the day. will be a good weekend away for the big smoke.

Gday guys,

New to the forum and detecting. Finally got myself an entry level X-terra 305 yesterday and live on lower north shore (there has to be some bling on these beaches!).

Will be hitting some local parks and beaches this weekend to try my luck and learn the tricks.

Would be keen to meet up with fellow detectors in Sydney area also.
