Hello to everyone. I'm new to this forum and fairly new to detecting. Thought I'd say hello and if anyone would like to do some park hunts with me around the northern suburbs of Melbourne, I'd be happy to have the company. :)

Welcome em1, good luck on your detecting, hopefully you can find someone to hook up with for a detect. :)

Hi Atom Rat and Goldpick. Thanks for your welcomes. I started with an ace250 last year and then bought a AT Gold thinking one of my girls might like to get into the hobby too and that they could use one of the two. They don't really enjoy it that much and have their own things to do which is fine by me. It's always nice to have a spare detector anyway. I have used the AT for park hunts recently with good success. I've found lots of old and new coins (and rubbish) and even found a gold ring which was a really nice surprise. I've also recently bought an excalibur for future beach hunts. I've only taken it out a couple of times so far so am still just learning that one. Also as the beach is a bit of a hike, I've just been enjoying the local parks for now and with ground being wet and easy to cut into, it's so very tempting and I go out often :)
What about you AtomRat? What do you use and where do you like to hunt?
Thanks Goldpick, I hope I find a nice buddy too.

I have ran around with a cheap detector finding relics and old dumps, but I am mostly a panner and sluice user. I do a lot of digging around the Yarra Valley, but I do get the chance to check out Castlemaine, Stawell and the next trip up to Beechworth.

Hi there em1, I just moved here from Canada. I'm in Sandringham...haven't got my bearings yet...lol, but would be interested in a hunt. Have a Ace250 and the AT Pro.

Welcome to the forum Broncox and shouldn't take too long to get those bearings sorted. Plenty of members in your region and I'm sure it won't bee too long before you find a few prospecting buddies. Best of luck out there mate.

Cheers Wal.
