Hello from SA.. hard rock miner small scale find the detecting side interesting .. maybe when I slow down a bit having a swing might be my thing..

Hello once again ...sorry my first post did not read so well...Adelaide based ..looking to build my own plant, already have a few goodies- jaw crusher rotary pulveriser but a nice M7 or M10 wave table would be great.

G'day everyone, my names Wayne or Ned if you prefer, Just joined you all on here and been keen to join you all out there as well. Did a lot of tin mining, driving machines as well as panning for myself when younger and keen to have a look around with a detector. Tried with a minelab XT17000 a few years ago, was not successful at all except for a few bullets, nails etc., but tried to do it all myself, now realise it would be wiser to get some help from you type of guys who are in the "game" so to speak. Haven't got a big budget, but got time on my hands now and a reliable 4WD, would like some opinions on what type of detector to try and buy, can afford about 2-3k, so second hand obviously and where to try, was thinking would love to look around the Palmer area?? Any input/advice will be accepted thankfully and graciously, cheers all!

Lots of good info on here Ned, you can use the search function to research within the forum, as well as start a new topic if you cannot find the info your looking for,... lots of great minds and a wealth of experience in here.

Thanks Silver, glad to know someone can see/hear me was starting to think I was all alone, cheers mate!

Gday Diggin it, it's a nice rest from everything else when your swinging, all the rest of everything else goes away for the time you are swinging, it's passive exercise though, so you still need to have that aerobic exercise to get the heart rate up for good health, otherwise the belly starts to show it(all the grog that goes along with this life style{forgive me all you up there on the wagon} ).

Hello all
Am a newbie to this forum also but have had a lot of detectors over the years. Have just sold my 5000 to cash up for a try at a 7000 ouch! To Ned wanting to give detecting a go, I would suggest go for the best secondhand detector you can get and at the moment there are heaps of good 5000s out there for sale for no other reason that people like me want to give the 7000 a try. The 5000 is by far the easiest detector to set that I have ever used, is a reliable and proven performer, and will be a competitive detector for years to come. You don't want to be discouraged by not finding gold regularly and the 5000 will find gold.

Gday Hawkear, welcome aboard,.. what price did you get for your 5000, if you don't mind my asking ?

Thanks for that silver, mate a bit of advice if you don't mind, I want to get into it A.S.A.P. and don't have a lot of cash to start, but I was looking at a Minelab Eureka Gold or the ex-terra 705, which would you recommend?? regards Ned!

Cheers for the advice Hawkear, did look at the 4500 and 5000"s mate a little out of my price range just now, but that's where I will be going when I can afford it for sure

Slowly finding my way Jaros, thanks for the welcome, don't suppose you have any advice on which detector to purchase? My budget tops out at about 2k at the moment, regards Wayne (Ned)

I've only used a few detectors over the years Ned, and sadly none of them have been Minelab, so I'm not really qualified to answer your question.
here are a few links within the forum that may help find you the appropriate members for some info.

Hi All
Both my partner and I sold our 5000s and both accepted $4000 for them. I know that many are asking more but I have always believed if you are selling, leave a bit in it for the next guy rather than try and screw out every last cent, and you will get a quick sale and you can also move on quickly to your next thing. My partner's machine was three years old and mine 5 years old with an extra coil but still going strong and in fact I had the opportunity to get 4 nice bits for 3 grams with it the day before the sale.
I have held back some of my more expensive coils and accessories in case I decide to repurchase a 5000 in the future if the 7000 I am planning to get disappoints.

It's always nice to be more than fair Hawkear, good onya and glad you made the sales,.... Everyone on here loves seeing pickys of nuggets(even the treasure hunters like me).
