Hi all,

New to prospecting and fossicking in general, which if I post regularly will probably soon become apparent

My only current reference point is the TV program Gold Rush. I find myself asking 'what would Todd Hoffman do??' haha

Anyway, my names Andrew and I am in the Albury/Wodonga area. Am hoping to find a local club (?) or person/s who may be willing to help with a bit of guidance for our local areas of interest and, if possible, advice on an affordable (around a $1000 give or take) metal detector suitable for our local conditions.
As a newbie does no doubt, I investigated metal detectors online and quickly became over burdened with choices... none of which I had a 100% grasp of.

It was the show Gold Rush that started me on my fossicking journey. Not sure I would follow Todd's advice too much though.

Hi welcome aboard Andy. The guys here on the forum are a great bunch, and not only that but very helpful and knowledgeable. I'm new to this to, but 1 thing I have learned is that there is no such thing as a silly question. I've seen and asked what I thought were a few, but every question is taken seriously (with humour often) but sometimes the question you hesitate to ask opens a debate and a lot of helpful tips.
