I enjoyed reading the story of your nugget find!
Persistence pays off and you have proved it, look for ward to reading about more of your finds in the future.

Great find Flash. The first is always the hardest to crack. Hopefully these are plenty more to follow soon :)

Sorry to be a killjoy but that looks suspiciously to me like a fakey.?

That's possible - there's not much yellow showing - but the bloke who threw it away apparently thought so too, so I'm hoping it's just an ironstone or manganese-covered piece.

Back in the day (early 80's), my wife and I used to have a similar looking nugget that we'd found in a patch notable for blackened gold and we named it "the sheep ****", because that's exactly what it looked like, so these things can happen!

Needs to be "un-glazed CERAMIC" tile (ie; NOT Terracotta for eg.) for the best results....just an fyi. ;)

Mate, well said, how about you show us a bit more of you blacksmith skills. Did you complete the sword ?

From my perspective it very much looks like Far NQ gold, what I have found around Georgetown looks very similar.
Too late now to discover where it came from.

But regardless of that, good onya bloke, just keep going with the enthusiasm you have shown here. :)
