Young bloke's first go at cabbing (12 yrs old), he made this for his mum....

She isn't awake yet, will take it down to her with brekky in bed.

I reckon it actually looks a bit like a fertilized egg It was completely orange when he started but that turned out to be a thin outside layer.

I'm just pleased that he has found a hobby that doesn't involve staring at a screen while mashing buttons with your thumbs!

Could that be a bit of agate that the young fella has cabbed Lefty, looks nice a nice job, he should be pleased with that. You shouldn't be surprised if he wants to head out and find some rocks from scratch, so as he can have some that he has found and worked all by himself. That would be a great memory you could all make happen and share in. After all it is the memories that make the trip worthwhile ! Or did he already find that piece for himself ?

It's a piece of chalcedony he found - carnelian to be specific. We thought it would be orange but turns out that was only a thin layer. I've been scratching through the collection and finally found a piece that is definately orange right the way through, that'll be the next cab.
