Heres something for those convinced that any form of GPS capability in their detector will have gold mining companies swooping on their spots.......

Is "gold mining companies swooping in on your spots" a real concern people have? I remember when I worked for one company we'd chase prospectors OFF the lease. I've worked for several mining companies *as an exploration geologist* and I have never come across a company (or the geologists) being interested in what prospectors do.

Prospecting and Exploration are different things. Different techniques, different targets etc. It's fairly rare that surface nuggets and such are directly related in space to a significant hard rock deposit. If that weren't the case, the mining companies would have gotten the government to ban prospecting decades ago lol

Yes, the old timers, especially in WA, found outcropping gold deposits (gold-bearing quartz blows - at least one of the deposits I worked on there was like this). But you'd be extremely lucky to find one of those now... if you do, THAT might be a reason to shut off all the comms and go full stealth mode. You'd still want to get the exploration licence/ML over that ground and drill it tho. Prove that it extends at depth and THEN the mining/exploration co's will come knockin! Most of the big finds in the last 50 years were hiding under cover or were near-mine extensions.

UEG .... it's in the "Comedy" area for a reason .......... But there are some conspiracy theory fanatics out there that believe in that stuff. Think large companies have better means of exploration than wasting time on what we do.

I would be more worried about GPS trackers placed on my car when you go into town and sell some Gold....

Wow that's moustache-twirling levels of evil plans there. But I'm sure it happens nonetheless
