Well it's been a long drawn out start to the season, hot weather, hard ground and me being just a bit slack to post.

These following finds were from a couple of 1800-1900's sites I've been testing out recently, a few were from Dec right through to yesterday. Managed a few bits of silver, including a fob watch bezel, part of a clasp, plus a rams head shilling and sixpence. I will post up some site and dig shots later this evening - just some of the finds for now. :)

Was wondering earlier today what you had been up too, good start to the season :Y:

Yes, I thought I should make an appearance before the year is out, always busy in the background researching new spots. Met a guy the other day who has converted an 1800's church to a home, and he has given me permission to detect the grounds, plus some sites where a couple of old pubs used to exist - can't wait!

Now is a good time to go looking for former 1800's dwellings, as the Easter Lilies are sprouting denoting possible hunting grounds.

Here's a few shots from the last couple of expeditions - these spots should be well known to locals, hence no effort to disguise the locations. Still amazes me that after all these years of people detecting these sites, I still managed a shilling and penny from right in front of the ruins - go figure. :p The second picture stone hut is a real eyesore, lots of dumped garbage in and around the ruins. Was happy to pick up another dog tag after wading through knee deep grass, plenty of buttons too.

Pretty much the same as you Rocket, really needed to push myself to get back on the bandwagon. I haven't updated my Deus as yet, seems to be doing just fine as is.

Tonyynot, don't think that item is a napkin ring, it is quite heavy and too larger diameter for a napkin. I gave it a bit more of a cleanup, the design is quite intricate.

Also pretty impressed with the Deus on the smallest piece of decorated silver, was some sort of clasp in its former life (pictured below on a $1 coin).

Returned today to an old school site that I passed up on last week due to time constraints. Not sure whether it had been detected before, though was happy to locate a few predecimals, most coming from around some old tennis courts which were hidden amongst the trees. Oldest coin was a 1926 threepence, followed by a 1938 half penny. Other silvers included 1947 & 1951 threepences and a 1956 sixpence.

Was a good day out to get back into the swing of things, lovely weather, soft sandy ground, and relatively easy detecting - used just the 11" coil today for a bit more coverage. :)
