Evening all
I was recently out in the Walhalla area with a mate and reading some of the historical markers relating to the gold rush in that area during the 1870's and was amazed at how many people were living out there (2000+ In some areas) . We were talking about how much gold those blokes must have found and amassed , that made us think that seeing those areas were pretty much lawless how many prospectors would have stashed their gold buried under a tree or some other landmark rather than risk going to the many pubs in the area (which were pretty wild I'd guess) with a few ounces in their pocket. Reckon there would be a few hidden stashes still lying out there who's owners for some reason or another never returned to recover their loot. It made a great discussion topic for the trip home and gets the mind ticking over , are there gold stashes tucked out there in the bush ? And will they ever be stumbled upon ?
