I have a Certate 3500HD and a Catalina 4500, love my japanese daiwa gear :D

Sorry, back on topic now...

Last time I enquired at Kellyco over buying a detector, they had no issue with shipping fisher products to Australia, only had issues with the previously mentioned detector manufacturers. If that has since changed, then it may be worth asking them on what is currently restricted.

I went on their website and was able to put my postal code in and country, they wanted $212U$ for delivery of one. Just found out I may be getting a reasonably good tax return, as I've only just done last years return, so might look at something in the $1500-2000 bracket........

Thanks for the info guys,
Kellyco have the gb2 with 2 different size coils a 6" and a 10" what's the difference in depth and search capabilities?

The 6" definitely seems to be favoured by most owners, but since it is such a high frequency detector, depth gains with the larger coil still wouldn't be huge, but obviously with better ground coverage. Plus the smaller coil will be easier to use in areas of thick scrub, ground cover, crevices etc, and less tiring to use. If the larger coil is a decent price, no reason you couldn't get both. Just order it seperately later on, if you feel the need to own one. Similarly with the GMT, it also has a large elliptical coil available, but it isn't that popular, with most preferring to stick with the original DD elliptical coil.

If you need to import to oz open a shipito account which
Give you a us postal address then use that as a postal
Address. You will get an email when it arrives then get it
Posted to your oz address. You at your own risk.

Its what method i use and its awesome.

Dhl express is awesome as an option.

I am still confused about the Gold bug range. The Gold Bug pro has a 19 kHz frequency and is advertised by Fisher as "The best, most versatile prospecting machine on the market! Incredible sensitivity to the tiniest gold nuggets"

But the Gold Bug 2 operates at very different frequency 71kHz and they say that it is :"The MOST Sensitive Gold Hunting Detector Ever Made" Why the very different frequencies if they are both so good for gold-I only want to use them find gold-I have a gold bug pro-is it worth getting the GB2?
.

Don't you love marketing? It's like anything these days, it's the best til a better (newer) model comes out.

Once again it comes down to areas that you intend to detect, if PI detectors have cleaned out the area, it is likely they have taken anything at depth that the Gold Bug or Gold bug Pro could possibly detect. Hence leaving smaller gold for detectors like the Gold bug 2 to clean up on. A lot of areas that Steve regularly detects in will be completely different to the conditions we face here, with highly mineralised ground that will test the depth capabilities of a mid frequency detector like the Pro. High mineralisation = lower sensitivity settings = reduced effective depth.

On the other hand, if you wish to also detect for jewellery and coins, the Goldbug Pro would probably be the more sensible option, with better depth than the GB2 and useful features like the ground grab button vs manual balancing all the time, and the ability to balance all the way to salt, which will be useful at the beach.

The Goldbug Pro is really aimed at the new generation of detectorist, gaining all the features you would expect to find on a versatile multiuse detector, vs the Goldbug 2 which is a more specialised machine that may not appeal to the masses, hence it doesn't really compete against the GBPro. The GBPro is most probably made to compete against the likes of the x-terra 705, Tesoro Lobo, Garrett ATGold and Whites MXT E-Series, whereas the GB2 is by its lonesome against the Whites GMT.

Might get the GB2 they have them at Aussie Detecting in Vic, but you get no extras with it, not like Kellyco. I emailed Aussie Detectors to ask if he can do any better on price or throw a couple of things in, like headphones and or a carry bag, but not had any reply as of now.

Make sure whoever you buy from actually has them in stock. You may have to wait a few weeks for them to order them in from USA.

Ok thanks, if that's the case I might as well order from Kellyco and save a couple of hundred of bucks
Cheers.

Thanks goldpick, already watching it, it's about 4 years old, dunno weather to bite the bullet and get a new one from Kellyco for $300 more with a load of extras. . . .decisions, decisions

You should spend your money on a deepersearching detector like im gonna do mate ,theres Pulse induction machines around like the garret sea hunter2,tesoro sand shark, whites surfmaster Pi for beach detecting and older minelabs like F1a4 ,SD2000 2200 and gp extremes, whites tdi sl,garrett infinium ls all for around the grand mark, which is what itl cost you for a new goldbug2 ,and youve already got vlf machines ,read a million prospecting posts saying wish i got a PI

The ones already have are 7.5 & 5khz, the gold bug 2 is 71khz, a bit of a difference, I have found lots of great stuff with them on the couple of occasions I have used them. PI's are good on large nuggets, but where I live its all very small stuff, hence the VLF path.

Thanks for your comments anyway.
Cheers,
Paul
