I was on the beach on sunday and was waaaay up the beach about 1km from the swim beach, there was nobody around... So i thought. I was happily swinging along listening to podcasts on the iphone when i found a target, went to move around the target to get a better signal and pinpoint it when all of a sudden there was a dude standing 1.5m behind me :/ scared the crap out of me. I did the usual FAQ - have you found much, how long have you been detecting, are you a local etc etc then listened to him talk about the usual stuff.... His life story...... I found my cue eventually and continued along my way while he went the other, 5mins pass when i found another target, did the same trying to pinpoint it, moved around the hole and again the dude was standing in my back pocket!!!!! Again got another 10 min yap yap from him and i left again with him walking away, i rolled a smoke and watched him walk away finally!! I continued and a few mins later i found another target and when i turned around to check for old mate there he was again!!
Frustrating :/ so i didn't dig it but took off my headphones, sat down and had another smoke and pretended to pack my gear away. He took the hint and left, i sat there for 20 mins waiting for him to walk back down the beach

Humans can be quite inquisitive creatures.

I've had the odd stalker (AKA zombie) just standing there and staring at me, it's off putting for the fact that you don't know their intentions. I think you handled the situation well, don't let the zombies stop you from doing what you love

Cheers,
Nugget

True, i don't mind talking to people as it gives me a chance to give my detector arm a rest but yeah a zombie would be the right way to describe him. He was just standing there, close enough to where my 'spidey-sense' was telling me someone was watching me..... Plus i was in the middle of a big undercut where i found the $27 so if i had kept going i'm sure he would have shadowed me while i dug it..

Last week there was a discussion about the perils of detecting alone after dark ,now Old Mate's being stalked during daylight , SAD to think society has these creatures lurking about !

Actually a bloke the other day told me a metal shovel would be much better for digging on the beach
to locate my targets, must have been an expert detectorist. :|

Ya could write ALL he knew about detecting on the back of a postage stamp with a six inch paint brush !!!

Mate you think you have a problem stalker ! I have got a horny Donkey that stalks me when i go to a particular area , i usually detect at night and this thing leaves his herd and follows the vehicle , waits for me to start detecting and then i hear it ... Heehaw from the scrub. I am too scared to bend down to check if the target is gold or not ! Then to make it worse he was hanging around on his own during the morning and recognised the vehicle and was following us ! I have nicknamed him Stan and have to put up with a load of ribbing now, my new nickname is MULEMAN around town.

A bloke walked into the pub for a cold one and the publican "hay ya donkey want will ya have"? The new chum beside the patron said "that's a bit tough mate he shouldn't talk to you like that. The patron said " hehaw hehaw hehaways does it". :D I know, getting off track!

The only thing that stalked me when I'm nodding at night is a (Mosey Vampire)
plus other bugs that like the light that stuck on my forehead :D
