G'day Miners,
My Name is Toby, i am 25 years old and a german geologist here in Australia. I am located in Cairns QLD and looking forward to start a adventure in hunting gems and gold nearly all across the country. I dont have any experience or knowledge about hunting gold yet. i am going to go trough most of the topics and and have a look about other peoples questions. If one of you is located in or around cairns und is willing to meet me and have a chat and answer a lot of my questions please let me know. First beer is on me ;)

Cheers Toby

Is a minelab 4500/5000 the Money worth? I was thinking to get a beginner one for About 1500$ (not a specific one in mind yet) for the begining and upgrade after a while to a proper minelab. What would you do? Save the money and buy a good one just straight away?

G'day mate welcome to PA as for which detector the smart approach is saving your dollars and buy a decent detector from the start. If you're thinking of buying a 4500/5000 providing it is genuine (buying 2nd hand check the serial number with Minelab before committing to the purchase) you will retain a better resale value if you choose to sell.
