Hi PA,

Newcomer here. Just getting into prospecting / metal detecting as another excuse to get out into the bush, with the added bonus of possibly paying the fuel bill (that seems to keep getting larger each time).
Live near Dubbo, so will be exploring some gold bearing areas over this summer. I enjoy a bit of hard work so I'll be exploring the harder to reach areas! Just bought an equinox 800, if I get some consistent finds I may upgrade to a PI detector, but I want to cut my teeth on the 800 first.

Looking forward to reading and hopefully retaining the copious amounts of knowledge available on this forum.

Luke the Equinox will detect lots of relics if they are there but it might not find a lot of gold. Most of the easy-to-find gold has long since gone so a good PI detector will improve your chances however the fun is in the hunt.
