my name is Troy I am fairly new to prospecting, have been going out to Tuena a little bit with the highbanker and detector (Garrett AT gold). Have not had too much luck on the gold yet but I guess that just gives me a reason to keep looking. What would peoples average cleanouts be after a days running in the Tuena area

greetings Troy,

Tuena is a great little spot and there is a decent amount of gold in the area, you just need to find that honey spot. The less obvious areas would be less worked so get a map and do a little recon work. Its a half gram to 2 gram area for some, i've heard of 8 grams in 2 days but they are the better spots. Also don't think there are no good nuggets there, they are still found today and sides of the roads can be a good easy option. There's the old "flood gold" that can fool you if you dig too deep- top 6 inches then the gold "disappears" so be sure to sample layers otherwise you may be digging deeper for no return!

G'day Troy and welcome.

Love the tuena area, had my first success there. My profile pic is the result of 4hrs panning.

Just waiting on sum supply's from America and then will be doing a solid weekend there in a couple of weeks, feel free to come down and say hi, the more man power the more material moved.

But enjoy the fourm, there is so much info here. 8)

as far as I understand it -:
As long as you are excavating the dirt with manual hand tools you are permitted to use a highbanker in all states unless otherwise specified

Thanks for the welcome, seems to be a few people on here that go to tuena spent the day out there on sunday testing a new spot but like twapster said it was only flood gold and very little of it.
