My passion is colonial history and my skill is research and a few short years ago i put my 'then' newbie neighbour onto his first bit of Waanyarra 'detector' gold, a 1oz nugget on his first outing and only 20 minutes in .

I'm attracted more to traditional prospecting (loaming, panning and sluicing) and looking forward to contributing to the forum.

I wasn't there when Frank (my neighbour) found it but he was still excited hours later when he telephoned me with the news. It was found in the mullock associated with a 1930's era costean a little uphill from the Secret Hill shallow lead workings. The definition of luck is "when preparation meets opportunity"
