Gday from a mad keen pull ring finder !

Hi peoples, I have just joined up here after a little look around.
I and my eldest Child are mad keen with detectors in SA, we have been at it for a few years now and have our kit pretty much sorted.
but with good grades this year my eldest will cost me a few dollars for an upgrade detector.

I have found thousands of ring pulls, and my eldest just loves her historical finds - lots of.
So she is keen to do water and more defined productive sites, even gold.

I suspect she and I will both post, her only under my supervision.

Dont be shy with us, we want to learn.

Hi guys, thank you for the well wishes and greetings.

My offsider Kato will be so keen to put up her finds and post to members, I will keep her on the straight path.

Please do not hesitate to offer up advise and information she will just suck it all up like a Hoover, LOL

2x ACE 250's, older Garrett VLF (80's), Garrett PI Sea Hunter, lots of tools for unearthing the finds that have taken some experimentation
over time to optimise, Deteknix pointers x 3.

Aren't pointers a God send?

Will put up some pics down the line of the tool kits and finds.

Although I would say a good 'light sabre' would be handy at times. :lol:

Thanks silver,

The young one (Kato) has been looking over my shoulder at the post re the Ace 250 settings and the others re your finds.
She will be studying those and making notes, a killer with a 4" coil on her machine.

Kato will probably post something about her finds around a coin with a hole in it, suspected target practice coin.
Hopefully find the right section to post about it.

She is possibly going to get an AT Pro if her grades are good.

I found it good to use just one thread for most of my hunts, makes it easier to follow over time, and easy to just add to after each hunt ,... there is good info all over the forum on each and every subject through multiple threads.
Can't wait to see some of your finds with the Ace 250 when you can Gh.
Even though I have a few detectors I use the Ace250 first and foremost, and still intend to for the foreseeable future. It is an easy machine to do really well with after all.

Our Ace 250's are the pick because they are light and handy, but do a good job too (as best we know).
On Monday it seems my large coil failed and I picked up Kato's 4" 250.

I know why she is killing me with finds now!
That thing is deadly, but tedious for covering ground on lawns or playground, but when it finds a target you know
exactly where it is and the depth is so correct.
AND she has picked coins in places where I thought it was a ghost signal.
I really enjoyed using her machine, god forbid I change her settings, she knows every tone so well that she will pick
the coin before digging - but stuffed up when she dug a 1854 Phenning LOL she will write more about that later.

Is it okay to start a thread like "Kato's Treasure Hunts"
She would like that and likely use it as a bit of a hunt diary, adding pics from her phone

I picked up new 4" and 9x12 coils for a good price the other day so we both have a complete set, looks like I might
be taking off with the big coil if I dont go back to the standard coil, my 9x12 seems to have an intermittent fault.

Where we go there are always young kids curious, so Kato and I teach, encourage and even 'seed' coin finds for them
to discover.
Makes the kids feel great, parents happy and us too.
Community education and no visible holes - never had any complaints.

I got her 'Kato' into detecting using Ferro chocolates in foil on the beach, she loved it finding Gold !

If the thread suggestion is okay I will move future posts to there asap, I understand this is a great/welcome thread.
