Gday everyone, I probably should have started here and introduced myself. I did make my first post in the metal detecting section with regards to our trip to avoca this weekend.
My names Luke, I'm from Geelong and love heading out bush dirt bike riding with the misses and also with a motorbike club I'm affiliated with.
A few of the places we ride are littered with evidence of mining activity from the 1800's. I've always taken an interest in gold prospecting and finally got myself a Garrett at gold to have a crack with.
We had a crack on Friday and Saturday and found plenty of junk, unfortunately didn't find any gold this time around.
Here's a pic of our camp site near the water reserve in avoca from this weekend.
Loving the wealth of information on here and others stories from their trips away prospecting.
Hopefully I'll catch up with some of you guys for a swing at some stage. I'm currently on the hunt for a gpx 4500 and can't wait to get out and cover some ground in vic.

Thanks silver. Gone are the days of roughing it with a swag, hotplate, dirtbike and not much else haha. Since the misses came along 5 years ago I've had to step up my game a little bit haha
