Anybody knows how would Garrett AT Gold work in golden triangle area? Max depth no more than 2m (around 7ft). Is this Machine really pron to leaks?

That 2m is underwater waterproof level, not 2m underground from the surface level.

I've never known them to leak, I certainly haven't heard of it happening without good reason.

Thanks Administrator. That is good to know. Maby You know how it handles mineralisation most comon on our fields. Still did not quite decided AT Gold, or Tesoro Tiger Shark. With Tiger I can dive, and they are build like tanks (new ones with drop in batteries design, no wires hanging around). Still it is 18kHz vs 12.5 kHz, hmmm? For land I have got Fisher f75.

Gday everyone I am thinking of selling my detector I currently have the AT gold and was just wandering if anyone would know what a fair price would be for it, has not had much use is still on its second lot of batteries, any suggestions would be much appreciated

Hi just getting into the detectors done a bit of panning found a bit of colour but hard work. Buying a at gold but lot cheaper from us are they a copy like minelab or the real thing just don't want to be ripped off thanks

Hi Grub
Don't want to disillusion you but I bought an AT Gold when I first started detecting at the start of last year. Didn't find one bit of gold in 6 months. However, it did prove my passion for the new hobby which in turn warranted me spending the money on a Minelab GPX4500. I started finding gold within in a couple of trips (once I learnt the machine). Cheers

Generally speaking, you won't be able to buy a new Garrett AT Gold from a US dealer due to restrictions on who they will sell to (ie: Foreign countries that have existing Garrett Dealerships). So you have to go a third party shipping company to purchase the detector on your behalf, and then forward it on to Australia (for a fee). If you do purchase from the US, the warranty will not be honoured here in Oz, only if purchased from an Australian dealer, otherwise it will need to be sent back to the US for any warranty claims.

The US AT Golds are the same as the Australian sold units, so there shouldn't be any fear of being ripped off - there aren't any AT Gold copies/counterfeits that I know of on the market.

As Dig'n-it mentioned, I've yet to see any gold found on this forum with the AT Gold. Doesn't mean that it is not capable, just a hell of a lot harder than with a pulse induction detector, and there will be limited areas on which it will operate without having issues with mineralisation, hot rocks, etc. Probably better off spending your cash on a more specialised high frequency VLF if you cannot afford the move to a pulse induction detector (Whites GMT, Makro Gold Racer, Fisher Gold Bug 2, Minelab Eureka).

If you want something like that, I could help sort which ever VLF you want, There are better VLFs out there from fisher or the MXT and Makro and Nokta, but I would talk to Phase Tech (Nenad) about what your Goals are because you might be better of with a Nokta Relic or one of the high or lower frequency Racers and he will advise you to the right machine,

hope this helps,

John.
