Hi all

I'v been a fossicker since I was kid found all sorts of stone over the years fossils, gems, semi precious to meteorites now planning to start hunting for gold. Just relocated back to new england sapphire fields after being away for a few years. So getting back into the sapphires again (not much luck tho, nothing worth getting cut anyways). just found out about a couple creeks that contain sapphire, topaz, zircon and flower gold. So going to try a way to hunt for them all. Thinking about shoving the dirt through sieves for the gems and sluice whats comes out of the sieves for gold seems win win to me ha ha  hopefully I gets lucky :D , just gotta learn about sluices :/ tho. Just brought a turbo pan from what iv read tho it might turn into a turbo frizbie apparently there not much good for recovering fine gold :| but I have learnt how to build a blue bowl and understands how it works thanks to this forum :) hopefully I learn much more from you all and hopefully I can contribute back and possibly spread the fever :p

Thanks in advanced to everybody

Looks like you are ahead of the game already. Certainly a Walbanker style machine with a gem catching setup will have you finding everything in the one go. You may loose some small gems out the end but a classifier on the end will fix that. Welcome aboard.

Hi all
Sorry for being quiet, been busy with the missus and kids and life stuff but thank you for the welcome.

I did get a chance yesterday (finely) to suss things out and give the turbo pan a whizz. Got a few little flakes :D and my first ever clear sapphire to my surprise :) was great to see that pan works for them to oh and lots and lots of coarse black sand so it might not be a turbo frizzbie after all.

Starting to think ill have to save up and buy a high banker instead of building one tho might knock up a river sluice in the mean time just gotta find a few bits and bobs first.

Welcome to PA :)
I've been trying to perfect my fine gold recovery as there seems to be a bit around the Nundle area.
Have a look at products from Gold Hog in the states...bit pricey, but he's done a lot of R&D ;)
