Tried the Gold Magic spiral wheel out 2day. Bought it as a manual machine and fitted a wiper motor to it. Amazed at how fine the gold that this thing can process. And the amount of material you can put through it. Lot quicker than a pan. An hour's mucking around in a thrashed spot in the creek for this little lot. Loving it (but hate the leeches)
Me container's the size of a 10c.

hmmmmm me thinks that was a pretty good day, going to have fun playing with that. Golding rig here you come, did you get onto something for the missus yet or is she your shovel buddy??????

They work really well
I have the desert fox gold wheel from camal
It works a treat for final clean up.
And saves a lot of time paning.

The setup's a bit wild, but it works. Took the handle off and used the pulley from that and fitted it to the starter motor.
Fitted a little old trolley wheel as a belt tensioner. The bolt that was welded to the plate on the back of the trolley wheel
passes through a bracket (bright green little thingy) fitted to the leg and tension is achieved by tightening the wing nut on that bolt.
Goes like a train.

Far out that is pretty bloody impressive mate! Great ingenuity mozzie,
it may look wild but it clearly works :p

Looks good and seems to be delivering.
When you say it was a manual wheel ...... do the come that way, need to turn it by hand??
Just curious about anything that speeds up the panning process (I get results but in a pretty wimpy way).
Cheers Tom

This is how the wheel came. You can purchase these already motorised but they are expensive for what they are. I was quoted, locally, $750 for the manually operated wheel and $1000 for the motorised version. Got this off Fleabay for $280 plus post.

Added the wiper motor and tensioner from some bits laying around. I'm impressed with the wheel's ability to pick up the tiniest pieces.

Thanks for that, pic clearly shows a handle for manual 'cranking' of the wheel ..... don't mind that. Will check them out.

Thanks Tom

meant to add ... nice bit of water. Your backyard landscaping or is there still water up north somewhere?

This is a great idea but is it ok with the law about using a motorised or mechanical device?

The Ebay site I got it from was a mob called tassiedetectingstore. Cost $280 and 'nother $50 postage. Seemed exy on
the post but even including that came in under half of what I was quoted locally.
Bit o' water was in the creek. Not much but enough to run the wheel in and get some colour out.
The wheel can also be run dry. You simply have to save all your concentrate and wash it when you can. But great for the dry areas that
you know are gold bearing.

Hey Mozzie, what sort of revs you running with the starter motor?
I see the manual says 19-23 rpm
yet the motor in their 'kit' runs @ 24 rpm

Just waiting for mine to arrive from Jack.
Can you tell me if the pulleys at both end are the same diameter?
if so I can order a 270/1 geared 12v motor.

Sorry, my mistake. Not a starter motor (blonde moment), it's a wiper motor. The pulleys I'm using are the ones that came with the wheel. The pulley on the handle was removed and fitted to the wiper motor and the whole thing simply clamped to the frame with a coupla hose clamps. The only exception being the trolley wheel but the belt simply passes over that. That wheel has a bolt welded to its plate so I can use it as a belt tensioner. Runs at around 20 rpm.
I can run it all day on a single charge in the little 12v battery.
