Just wanted to say that after four trips i finally cracked it and got four miniscule specks today. You'd have thought i'd won tattslotto if you'd seen me out in the scrub doing a victory lap!! After being fired up and given some great advice by wolfau (thanks mate) i decided to put in two intense hours this morning following his advice. Magic, four specs and only three buckshot, they're better odds!! Thanks everyone for your welcome to the site and helpful tips.

Awesome i am absolutely wrapt for you and
glad I could Help. Its an awesome feeling finding
Your first bit.

Look forward to hearing more about your finds.

Mate, l couldn't believe the 2300 picked up one spec. It would be barely larger than 1mm. I thought i had one piece, dug it, got a signal, sifted and lost the signal, did that three times and then moved on when i couldn't find what it was. Then went about twenty feet and got the first spec, realised how bloody small they were and then went straight back to the first scrape and finally found the original piece.

I have seen first hand the nuggets the sdc can find and my eyes popped.

I decided to be more selfish though and purchased a GPX5000 instead.

Just keep going then when you are confident enough try different settings
and do so with a nugget test piece.

It may run a tad unstable but nuggets may pop out more.

If I am in the area I will send you an email then its up to you if you decide to come up.

Edit: spelling errors..

Good on you scrounger.

New rush on in that area? I'll be up there Monday or Tuesday to have a look around.
School hols on now so if anyone sees a bloke with 3 bored looking kids in tow. That'll be me...lol

Nothing new in this area. Many prospecting clubs camp around here.

Its a very very large area. There are lots of broken branches all over the place.

Pick a small spot move the branches and get going.

There are many many areas around Central Victoria that have surfacing areas that could yield tiny bits of gold
though but you need to the hard yards and need to detect for around 2 to 4 hours and aim at finding 30 plus
bits more of lead where hopefully a nugget or 2 will pop out during the process.

Totally understandable Wolfau. I was initially surprised that you would recommend an area where clubs camp out as I would have thought everything has been picked up. But it just goes to show.

I'll have a shot in the area with the small coil on the SPP and see how things go. You can only try.

Found a couple more of my old maps today as well. I've always liked the Tarnagulla area. Haven't been up that way for over 25 years and that is on the to do list as well these school hols. I wonder how the old maps will hold up.

Thanks for your advice Wolfau.

And hurry up with the pics scrounger.

Your welcome.

I know of some finds that were made here recently so this is why I recommended the spot though I
have seen clubs camping here in the past. Its very hard to find every bit of gold on a surfaced spot.

No one gets it all is what I say ;)

Thanks golddiggerart, yeah a great feeling. Hardluck, i didn't find the specs where wolfrau suggested, sorry if i implied that. I just went and worked a surfaced area as he suggested i should. I do intend to check out the area he did suggest down track a bit though. Where he did really help was telling me what to look for and how to work the ground.

Sending pic is beyond me ramjet. I've taken a low res image which i can email to somebody if they can post for me until i can suss out what the hell i'm doing.
