Jeez Matt.......those nuggets certainly have that natural Hargraves crystalline structure to it (if you take off the rounded edges)

I am feeling more inclined to start out for the 2015 Hargraves Gold Rush off the back of yours and RDDs crystalline gold finds from there recently. They were also highly crystaline in shape and have etched Hargraves into my mind as a must-do place to visit.

I am definitely thinking small is beautiful and must therefor am obviously SDC affected.........hopefully, one day, I will peak by exceeding the gram barrier. Mind you, a couple of ounces of smelted looking gold would keep me happy as well; I just can't think that big at the moment.

I used to live out that way and had plenty of specs in a jar as a young bloke. I can't even remember where they ended up but I've caught the bug again - thanks for posting the pics, just have to get myself a detector and get into it!!

The area is already a tourist hot spot but not for gold tourism. Mudgee area is now more focussed on wineries & farm stays etc. Fossicking only gets a very obscure mention as a tourist activity here.
Theres only a little shop out at Hargraves & no accommodation so I don't think the bloke that done it was trying to drum up Hargraves tourism. If it's who I think it is he may have been trying to drum up some business for himself? (& no before the conspiracy theorists jump in I'm not referring to the local gold shop)!
I'm a local but I don't really think they're concerned with gold or fossickers in general out there or drumming up business to cater for us. They're more concerned with the fine wool the area is now internationally renowned for - that's Hargraves new gold rush.

Fair call.

I knew they looked a bit on the "funny" side. Good to know we were on the right track.

Now lets get out there and pull the real deal :D
Went out there today in the freezing cold & drizzling rain for a shot at it. Done no good at all - my first duck egg with the SDC in 11months (only a couple of weeks short of a year). Ah well had to end somewhere :D

Bugger. Just don't let that percentage slip too far below a 99.9% success rate. Make up for it next trip out and all is forgiven. We'll just pretend that never happened. Haha! :D

All the best out there!
Shauno.

Ok I am a queenslander, so have only been able to explore the area on google earth, do I need permissions to detect the area, looks like a problem getting into the valleys, looks like most of it is under lease, place looks real good yet other than the mining very little other info.
