I was there on Saturday and signs were everywhere Closed due to logging. Drove back to Black Springs and dig for about a hour until heavy showers chased us back. No sapphires but heaps of mushrooms.

hey guys looking at the road along sewells creek road towards native dog creek as a place to fossick in about 2 weeks. from looking at the dirt road for the last section I feel like I will have no problems at all with regards to getting there in my 1960s bug but would be greatful if anyone could tell us any more info on this road in. gonna be carrying my sluice down with me once I build it but would like to get as close as possible before having to drive from there on after
also is there any of the other creeks that this road crosses over worth giving fossicking a go or is there nothing in them/not allowed to fossick in them
cheers for any details

If it's the track I am thinking of take a handsaw , chainsaw or good axe , there is a fallen tree about 1.5 -2 km in .

If you see lots of thick blackberry that blocks access to parts of the creek then those are the places I would test pan first.

Lots of people in this hobby just set up their gear close to where they can park their vehicle and dig where 45 other people did before them ...

cheers mate I will be keeping my eye out. trip has been pushed back a bit and so hoping to get there soon just need to work out a free weekend to have a go
