Will have to try and tee something up, looking forward to meeting you mate.
Think you will be happy with the area I have in mind. ;)
Have a few other spots to try "just down the road" as well.

Cheers,

Billy.

Do you have starting umbers for highbanker water flow and angle ?

hey Bazxa

i personaly run at around 10 degrees, from 7 to 10 works well, i'm a volume kind of guy so i go pretty aggresive, i reccomend form a 10 inch up 3700gph min, 3700 on an 8 inch is also great but you dont need all that flow. hope that helps.

you will find the profile is extremely tolerant to low flows and high. your feed rate is what will be most effected in slow flowing conditions.
fall dictates how fast the cells will exchange and clear out.

Looking good Mr Digg! When I get a highbanker will definitely be looking at purchasing some of your matting.

This stuff is amazing on fines and chunky stuff alike. I put it through its paces in Creswick on the weekend and it caught everything I threw at it aswell as plenty of little gemstones. Small amount of cons per clean up too compared to a couple pans I used o get with the miners moss. Cant recommend it highly enough guys :)

Hey MJB, do you reckon it would go any good at Spot X? ;)
I know of a few other spots that may be a good trial for it to. ;)
Mr Digg, you would be most welcome to come along as well

Cheers,

Billy.
Billy,
This stuff is going to be great at Billy's creek, that chunky gold is not going to stand a chance haha. How is the snow going down that way though??

Hey Golddigg@
Great piece of info with the angles:)
Just what i wanted to know!
I went to creswick the other weekend and my highbanker collected heaps too much slurry.
I thought it might be due to the angle and as you stated"feeding" the highbanker will also add to how it reacts.
I might add more angle to my setup and slow down a touch when it comes to "feeding time".
All fun and games :-D

Its all about getting the right balance mate. Creswick has one extra element to contend with. Phenomenal sediment rates.

If theres one problem ive had there is too much sediment in the water. Too much sediment can carry gold through the system too. Due to the hydraulic mining in the area that red and orange sediment is a challenge. Youll knock it on the head mate. Lots of water helps but too much water adds to downward force and slows cleaning.hope that makes sense.

Wow.
The dream matting looks fantastic!
But for the price it had better be good :)
$144 for 10 inch by 36 inch!!
I say it again.... WOW!!

Hey mate yeh i hear ya. Sticker shock is a killer when comparing this extremely durable scientifically designed high cost cut and tear resistant urethane cast product to say rubber matting for wiping your feet.

But when you look at what it does what it replaces and how efficient and effectiveit is at its task it makes sense.

Remember that $14.40 is GST

To be honest mate the reason the i put in a bid to manufacture it in australia was due to the landed cost which only served to lign the pockets of the import departments and courier companies. When i purchased my first mat from America it came in at $260 landed. I dont mind spending money on something that gets me more gold because i can get that back in a weekend trip. However i knew it was something special and wanted it to be accessible to aussies.

We looked at shipping it here on a slow boat from montana it would take months and still too expensive and as a business i would have had to spend over $20k and sit and wait 3 months to be cleared by customs. Even still to make a return on that would put it back in the dont bother category.

Yes the urethane we are using is bloody expensive and it could be made in rubber for a fraction of the cost but the designer wants this product to last for years so the product is super abrasive resistant. Yoi cant cut the stuff straight with a knife its serious stuff.

You have to understand that we have mines running these mats who run 50 yards an hour so they have to last. They will outlast expanded metal which end up being rounded after a season.

Im a transparent guy so i want you guys to understand the cost and return on investment model. We pay alot for our urethane thats the highest expense. Then there is a royalty to the designer which is very fair. My costs on top of that are my own time in mixing and casting, electricity running heat lamps to maintain consitant 30 pkus degree rooms extractors, chemicals and GST.

I can tell you right now if i was working and earning a wage for the time it takes to produce 10 mats id make alot more money as a barista.

The small margin i make on the mats will take me a year or so to recoup the cost of setting up and building a urethane casting lab here in queensland.

I would like to see the mats one day available in a rubber profile that can be cut to suit. Its something ill continue to campaign for and if we can do it youll be hearing about it.

In the meantime just know this. If youve used a industry designed mat before like a goldhog or the gws and youve gone away from old things that aren't as efficent like riffles, expanded metal, drop riffles etc then you know the benefit of being able to know what you have in the sluice is catching gold. Without having to stop and make sure your riffles arent packed up tight.
Then when the time comes to cleanup no metal no stuffing about just pull your mat quick rince in a bucket bugger all concentrates (because your already using a concnetrator) and off you go.
The long and the short of it its a time saver, its more effective than any other system ive ever seen or used. Those that know me know i woudnt say that lightly.

But also know this. Whatever you can afford and can knock up its all good fun catching gold is the target but just getting out there having fun is the reward.

Cheers GD

If i'm reading the numbers correctly that will max out a wx15 and uses as much water as GH mat. It looked like much less flow in the Video.
Currently using 6" Gh mat sluice. Also have a walbanker to use in different areas. Your mat looks interesting.

hey Barry

your sums would be about right mate, however It will depend on what pump is fitted to the WX15 or newer wx50 motor, the most common pump fitted to this range of honda engines in Australia is a very poor cheap Chinese pump which puts out 14k litres per hour or around 3700gph. at the other end of the scale the more efficient turbo shaped pumps run 30k litres per hour and use less rpm to achieve this.
As i said 3700gph that's plenty for the 8 or 10 inch wide and allows for enough water pressure for proper scrubbing of material. I have customers using a wx15 with the 12 inch wide mats here in Queensland who are very happy and run at half throttle.
without knowing what video you are referring to i cant tell you but in my backyard my 3700gph bilge pump is restricted from 40mm to 30mm so i dont achieve full flow.

I've been looking at getting a flow meter to demonstrate the values but i'm yet to find a 2 inch flow meter with 3% accuracy for less than $700 so i wont be going donw that path for a while. I have to trust the manufacturers values they place on a pump.

i have a 4 inch cleanup sluice with dream mat cut into it which i use the 1000gph pump and its great, so 6" id say at least 2000gph, but it will depend on what you are concentrating, sands move through quite fast whilst ironstone requires more lift and pitch to move out of the system.

Shortly i'll be bringing out a header unit for our sluices that turns them into a standalone unit that can be plumbed into the 8" sluice, i'm yet to find an efficient way to cut or cast 6" mats sorry. I just don't have access to a water laser cutter for less than $130 per hour so its off the cards until i find another solution.

thanks for your questions. do you have a wx15?

Yes a wx15 honda. I measure my flows with a 55ltr bucket & stop watch.
I check that link. the walbanker is 208mm at the bottom & would not take much to adapt 8" but Ill keep looking for a while.
