Converts a 6" Gold Rat river sluice into a recirculating sluice in minutes.
Materials:- Scrap aluminium (left over from making the sluices), screw, nails, putty, Linseed oil, scrap hose fittings from old washing machine, hose clamps, 12VDC submersible pump, "Hot Wheels" battery holder for Ryobi battery, 18V to 12V converter, PWM motor controller, old plastic bottle, scrap plastic sheet, a couple of dollars worth of pipe/hose adaptors.
Construction should be pretty obvious (ask if it isn't). A plastic bottle with large holes in it and a stocking over it filters the pump intake. An old bleach bottle covers the pump so that it isn't taking in water direct from the sluice - so far I've had zero jet clogging. The sluice friction fits to rig and the 2 bolts that hold the mat in place serve to secure the sluice on the rig (I've rebated the rig to match them). The two pieces of plastic (above and below the jet bar) serve to flatten the flow and remove air bubbles.
