Hi All,
You can go for your life and discuss the comp in here.
Why I am doing this is to keep the thread clean.
Will make it easier to keep track of what is going on. :) :)

I have made both a sticky and will unstick them about a week after the comp finish's. :)
As I said in the intro, Many Many Thanks to Kemjak57 for his generosity and
also Twapster for bringing this idea to us. :)
Going to be some fun I reckon.

Great idea for a comp guys this sort of thing keeps the forum firing and PA the preferred prospecting site in Aust. Great donation Kemjak57 top shelf mate , cheers to Twapster for showing off again ;) and Tath for running the show :D

Hi Guys,

yep a big up for Kemjak57's awesome prize, and also TathraDJ for setting the comp up.

The Specific gravity test was done to the best of my ability, specimen weighed in air, and then weighed suspended in water and excel spreadsheet formula from the internet re SG in Quartz!

Rocket Commented,
" So SG is specific gravity? I reckon a short tutorial post, maybe needed for some of us. "
Might leave that one to Twapster to explain. :) :)

Sorry, Had to remove a few post's. :)
I have locked the Comp until tonight.

I used one of the spreadsheets readily available on the internet, quartz as the host rock.

Weigh the specimen while it is dry,
Work out the weight of the specimen while it is suspended in water which is the Wet Weight. (the hard part)
Enter the main rock material of the specimen into the spreadsheet (quartz, ironstone, other)
Enter the dry and wet weight of the specimen into the spreadsheet.

VOILA !!

Is it only 1 vote per member through the whole comp, or 1 vote per member per day again last the last?
Ill have to admit..I was a bit confused if I was to be supplying the specific gravity of the gold..or the weight of the gold..

HI Atom
1 vote per member for the whole Competition,
It is the estimated SG of the Gold. :) :)
When the comp has finished, I will put the photo's up on how it is done. :)

Like I said, my guess was just a stab in the dark (with a knife made of shadows by the looks of it) ,... still none the wiser, but can't wait till the waiting is over (ha).
  :/  :( :D

Mine wasn't a guess. The SG of the gold in all my species is the same as the SG of the gold in Twapsters, as there's only one stable isotope of gold (197Au).
Now the SG of individual speccies will change, as will the SG of the gold alloy within each specie (in Vic GT it's around 95% Au and 5% Ag), but the SG of the gold in the the specie (that was what was asked) is 19.32g/cc.

8) Well then BW, you got the comp in the bag by the sounds of it ,.... winners are grinners hey ! :D
