Rant begins: In keeping with my current tirade directed at our esteemed federally elected members and the lack of regional digital radio coverage (pick a percentage of regional area coverage between zero and zero) the Member for the ACT has also raised the issue in parliament about 200 regional radios pulling out of on-line broadcasting - see for referencing - page 8 http://www.aph.gov.au/~/media/05 Ab...bout the House magazine/48/PDF/ATH48_full.pdf

that 200, yes 200, regional Australian radio stations have ceased on-line broadcasting due to a doubling of their licensing fees. Yes folks, a doubling. What was initially annoying, after-all I can still get AM and scratchy FM but no digital, has now become a farce. In my self-declared country that arose from several issues, see above, but in summary,

1. No digital radio coverage.
2. I cant pick up the gallops or the footy.
3. Collingwood are getting stiffed in the AFL.
4. I missed the TAB quaddy on the weekend.

can now be added - 5. I can no longer listen on-line live to most of regional Australian radio (the community stations are the best, I have gotten some magnificent rhubarb recipes and also some wonderful home remedies for gout etc etc). Seriously though - the stooges are planning on trying to develop the regions, Northern Australia etc, but we have no (insert very stern swear word) digital or on-line radio coverage - what part of the information age is getting missed here? If I want, I can listen to some boring old spanker on the BBC talking about the (insert swear word) the Chelsea Flower Show in London, but want to listen to the progress of bush-fires as they jump from SA into Vic?? Forget it.

Rant ends.

Just got back from 2 weeks in the Flinders Ranges. There's bugger all radio and no ground based TV up there at all.

I used my Vast Satellite TV system 107 TV channels and over 60 radio stations.

You register as a traveller every 6 months, which is free, but you need to buy the system ($6-800)

Until the govt gets off their bum it's about the only choice.

Why would you want to watch TV in the Flinders Rangers?
I must be missing something, I know it's getting warm in Brissie 28C and it playing with my head.
