ok so after a long debate with the deus vs the ctx im posting this up to show the amount of coins i found for 7 days .this was about 1.5hrs detecting per day for 7 days .people can bag the deus all they want but pictures dont lie :).i dont care what anyone says i ran over these fields like i was a marathon runner swinging the coil extremely fast and the deus never missed a bleep :).prepare to witness GREATNESS .man invented metal detectors and then he invented the greatest of all .THE ALMIGHTY DEUS .7 DAYS WORK ,1.5HRS A DAY ,TOTAL FIELD HRS 10.5. TOTAL COINS $207 .TOTAL AWESOMENESS LEVEL 100000 :).

this will probably be the only finds pic i put up because i dont want people to think im a boaster i just put this up to show some people who challenged me to put up my finds with the deus .the main reason why i found quite a bit of coins i feel is becasue with the deus you can cover alot more ground faster due to its incredibly fast recovery speed but this is just my theory so i could be wrong .

Blake thanks for sharing your passion.

The momentum is shifting though with the Deus and how many users are using this
awesome detector.

First it was the UK, then followed the US and now we are starting to see a surge of
XP Deus users in Australia.

Just remember you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink ;)

So enjoy this great hobby.

Look forward to seeing more.

hahaha well said wolf well said :).i spoke to the guys at xp because i wanted to get the case for it and they said they are expanding the deus in australia because of its popularity here .THE DEUS WILL FIGHT AND IT WILL WIN ! IT IS ITS DESTINY LOL ;) .

but all jokes aside i had a ctx and many other detectors and even my uncle was shocked at the amount of coins i was pulling out of the ground with it .i remember the first day i got it .put it on basic one and went to a park $42 later i was sitting in my chair just glancing at it in awe i just couldnt believe something so light and small had so much power .not only can you swing it like a wipper snipper and as fast as you want .it never seems to miss a target .its just that great .

i better stop talking about it tho or everyone will buy one and then there will be no coins left for me to PLUNDER! hahaha :).you and me wolf we know the secret lets keep it that way no more talk of the deus's greatness haha :).

Nice haul Blake. Had a few $50 days myself swinging the aldi in a sweet spot for a few hours. :) No ones been bagging the Deus, I think it's a great detector, would like to use one sometime.

May even buy a deus when the CTX pays for itself, that opal ring I got yesterday took a big chunk off it. Actually the Aldi has paid for the CTX mostly.

Good work mate, keep it up.

Thanks for posting Blake. I am currently having the Deus vs CTX argument with myself. Not sure which to get first. The post Rocket started and yours here and the other topics featuring these 2 machines are all helpful to get as much info as possible while I save my $$ to upgrade.

Actually Blake I thought you just might like to contribute to the forum, keep the finds pics coming with your Deus adventures mate, no one is challenging you. This secting of the forum is the brag board so nothing wrong with a few boast pics. We love our detecting pron.

Would be pretty boring if everyone used the same detector, great there are so many to chose from to spice it up bit eh?

Ramjet this a choice you need to make.

I know that there is no current detector on the market that can ID targets 100%.
Not going to debate this as there are many different factors such as depth of targets,
canslaw, aluminium pulltabs and aluminium screw caps and so on.

Add the price and the weight into it and a few reviews and thats why I purchased the Deus.

We all hunt differently though and the CTX is a really nice machine and it might be the one
for you. Each to their own though. Its not about which brand but what one offers over the
other. The Deus is easy to use and super light weight. The CTX would also been awesome
to use. In fact the CTX was the detector I was looking for when I purchased my first Minelab
Sovereign in the 90's but at that time it did not exist.

I paid $1500 for my Deus and that to me is awesome buying. If I could afford to have both
then I would go that way.

Good luck with the purchase.

well roger i think the only thing the ctx has over the deus is being waterproof but i used to waterproof electronic equiptment for a living and the thing that annoyed me real bad once the ctx was released is minelab put a dam dredded O RING on the back where the battery goes .there have been many people having to take thier ctxs back for repairs because water seeped in through the battery compartment and there is very good reason for this .when you waterproof something you either want to seal it entirely like the bbs detector minelab has i cant remember the name or you want to have a massive seal on it like a massive massive oring that is very think .now on the ctx they have this tiny little oring to keep the water out and everytime you take the back off you need to pressure test the machine in a tank of water or the machine isnt guaranteed waterproof .sure minelab will most likely cover it but i heard now that they put in thier manual that the ctx is only water resistant now .that means if you take it in the water and it gets water inside the battery compartment they may not cover the damages .

when i spoke to a minelab technician about it he basically said it was people fault for putting the cover on wrong .which is false because how hard is it to put a battery cover on the ctx not very hard at all .its because if you have a oring on anything weather it be aa watch ,some sort of diving sensor or anything for that matter .you have to pressure test the item and most people dont have a pressure test tank sitting in thier back yard so this is where the problem lies .

when i had my ctx i never submerged it because i knew before people even were taking thier machines back for repairs that the ctx was not waterproof .as long as there is a compartment that can be opened and it has a tiny o ring on there that aint stopping water from getting in .

but again this is my opinion so everyone is entitled to thier opinion but it does prove my point why so many ctx are getting returned with water getting in the battery compartment .

ill tell you all the pros and cons of both and just keep reading in the end they are both ok detectors i just think the deus is better .

minelab ctx
pros : deep (fbs sees deeper than most detectors accept pi machines)
solid construction (built tough i could see it taking alot of knocks without a problem
minelab respectable company with A1 service
good to find deep targets in places with not much iron ,mainly pastured fields and massive ovals with not much litter
colour screen and target trace ( the colour screen is nice and target trace seems like a ok feature but i didnt find it overly useful
you have the option of the beach or parks because fbs is more stable than vlf
im sure there is a few more but cant think of them off the top of my head

cons : heavy ,machine is very heavy after 45mins i found myself not enjoying detecting because my arm would ache (people go on about balance but balance dosnt make something lighter .

screen ,in the sun the screen can have alot of glare on it and be very hard to see at time
recovery ,recovery is snail pace slow if you have a big area to search be prepared to bring a tent and a sleeping bag cause its gonna take you a while :).
and if you swing the coil to fast you will miss targets ,ctx also has problems in high trashy areas and iron tends to mask good targets .
price tag ,the price of the ctx is very high and i just couldnt justify $2700 for what the ctx offered .
ctx isnt as sensitive on smaller jewellry (this is on thing that really stuck out with the deus i found alot of jewellry with it )
settings ,harder to use and setup and understand alot of flicking through screens to set and and tinkering .once you get it down its ok but at first its not to user
friendly .
battery compartment isnt guaranteed waterproof .

at the end of the day the ctx is still a good machine i dont wanna bash minelab because i know they are a good company that most likely trys hard to make good machines and i respect them for being a australian company thier service like i said is better than any company in the world i can attest to that .but i feel like the ctx fell short in its offerings and i hope when minelab make a new treasure detector that it is alot better than the ctx and does well .i wish minelab all the best in the future i truly do .stay tuned for my deus pros and cons .

Thanks Wolf. I am leaning towards the Deus for it's weight and speedy recovery mostly. It will suit my style of detecting... long days and swinging fast. I follow a few FB groups etc and it seems more people are saying that having both machines covers any detecting situation. One day....

I agree with Heatho too. We all love to see what others find with the different detectors so I hope Blake will continue to share his finds. :)

PROS AND CONS OF THE ALMIGHTY DEUS

CONS FIRST : and this is gonna be hard because i struggle to find cons with this thing :).

vlf machines are not as stable on the beach (tho with version 3.2 the deus is pretty good but its not ctx good )

3 parts to charge, some people dont like this but i never had a problem with it .

deus tends to find more foil ( but remember what i said about silencer if your not finding trash you missing good targets as well ( all detectors have some sort
silencer its like a door that opens and shuts and lets certain good signals in (deus silencer is adjustable other detectors arent).

deus isnt as sturdy as the ctx but its still pretty strong havent had any problems with bending or anything .

TIDS arent as stable at depth( but with all detectors this happens once the ctx gets over 8" the tids jump all over the place and you dont really want to rely on tids when detecting .use your ears daniel son listen for grasshopper in tha grasss :).

control box is not waterproof but thats easy fixed with a waterproof pouch .

PROS : there is gonna be alot :).

LIGHTWEIGHT : the deus is super light like i can swing this thing for 8hrs without even feeling it and you have the option to put the control box on your belt with the pouch that comes with it .

SUPER LIGHTENING FAST RECOVERY! SUPER SAIN LEVEL 500000000000000000000 :).as well all know by now the deus recovery is something of god like status .you can use the little wipper snapper like a wipper snipper and it will rake those coins in without even breaking a sweat .this is one machine that will show you why its called deus(stands for GOD) .because you can run over fields and cover tremendous amounts of ground and sweep those coins up .you wont believe how fast this machine is till you have it in your hands .

COMPLETLY WIRELESS : the deus has a wireless coil ,control box and headphones .so if you dont feel like taking the control box out no problems leave it at home and hunt with the headphones .the headphones have all the programs you made from the control box in them as well .

SILENCER : if you wanna find every target set it to -1 and dig everything in site including some trash .if you want a quite day set it to 3 and find those bottle cap signals and coin signals and distinguish between the 2 if you want a real quite day set to 4 and sweep away but remember the more silencer on any machine the more targets you could potentially miss .with the deus you have the option of adjusting it to your liking.

GREAT PRESET PROGRAMS : basic 1 ,gm power and deus fast .are all great programs to start with and make switching on the machine and detecting easy .

basic 1. when you wanna just hunt for all differant coins .

gm power. when you want something that is very pingy and sensitive on jewellry and coins

deus fast .when you have a real trashy site you wanna plunder and you need fast response .

goldfield .this is kinda self explainitory .

GREAT CUSTOMIZABLE SETTINGS .the deus has so much features you can make all your own settings and customize it for differant grounds and save them in the control box for when you need them .

REACTIVITY : ability to set how fast you want the machine to recover targets .at reactivity 2 its still faster than the ctx but you have the option of 3,4 and 5 for real trashy areas .i dont think there is one detector that can match the deus for recovery but there is a few vlfs that do come close .

PORTABLE : the thing folds down into nothing so you can take it in a backpack

NOTCH FEATURE : this is a feature i havent seen on other detectors .you can basically notch out a small area that you dont want the machine to ping on .kinda like discrimination but dosnt effect depth .

UPDATES : deus is always making new updates to improve its performance which are totally free and apparently update version 4 is coming out at the end of the year which i cant wait for .

cost : $1800 compared to $2700

im sure there is more that i just cant think of atm but i just love it so much its just such a great machine.i dont know how stable it would be underwater at the beach but deus just brought out a antenna for it so im guessing it should be ok .

like i said at the end of the day its your choice and i guess it would maybe be wise to try both machines out and see what you think .im not affiliated with deus or anyone who sells them but BRETT FROM PROSPECTORS PATCH IN PERTH is a good guy and has helped me out alot so if i was gonna recommend anyone to buy a deus off it would probably be him .but again its your choice try both machines and see how you like them or even better maybe hire them both for a day .

i just love the deus because its .fast, light, great little programs, customizable and makes me grin from ear to ear everytime i use it .it still manages to amaze me after so long.

i wish you all the best mate happy hunting .

will do ramjet when i get the time to detect been a bit busy with work atm haha .

Deus is best, spoken by a true non expert lol But the deus is detecting Ramjet style. Faster does mean more finds, but you dont have to detect fast, you just have the option to. Dont post too many goldies blake, one of us may work at the ATO lol

I don't really choose to detect fast.... Just the style I fell into.

Thanks so much for all the info Blake and Wolf.

no problems ramjet like i said you may use the ctx and really like it so best try them both mate .but if you do grab a deus you wont be dissapointed im still smiling as im typing just chatting about this machine :).its the only girl in my life that gives me money instead of taking it lol ;).

oh and if you want something for mainly beaches then maybe get a Minelab Excalibur II its the old faithful that apparently is used by alot of beach detectorists and its tried and tested and earned its name on the beach and its cheaper than the ctx .but the deus still does well on the beach but wont hit as deep as most stable detectors that are more suited for those conditions but if you want a all round detector for the beach, parks and on any other land the deus is the best option in my eyes and xp have made and updated the machine so its good on beaches .

I will probably end up with both. Another plus for the XP is it's a bit cheaper so I'll get it sooner. ;)
