Try to find old parks that have been there since the 1800's to early 1900's and you should find pre dec coins, a bit of research and it should pay off mate.

The oldest Park in Frankston is Ballam Park. They have heritage listed a house and church next to it which was said to be one the first built in the area 1874...I have wandered through the park it a few times..... Lots of 5c and Brown Buggers but not one Penny or Silver...
There is a story of a slave being buried there, heard it from a local who has lived in the area all of his life...
 
thin. and brittle brass mate, I might soak it. Going to give RJ a crack at this site tomorrow, hard ground but coins are 2inches deep.
