This will clear up a few things .....
Here is a cut and paste from DHHS latest advice regarding easing of restrictions.
Travel within Victoria
Victorians shouldnt be taking holidays currently, even within Victoria. You can go for a drive, but you are encouraged to stay local, and only go to places where you can drive there and back within one day. You can still book accommodation if there is an essential need.
Can I visit friends, family or my partner within Victoria?
Victorians are being asked to be considered and use common sense when it comes to visiting friends and family, especially those who are more vulnerable. That means seeing those you need to if you need to. You cannot stay in accommodation that is owned by family or friends, or tourist accommodation.
You should ask yourself if having visitors is necessary or if you could use video conferencing, phone calls, text message or social media to stay in touch with people.
Can I stay overnight when visiting friends, or family within Victoria?
You should only stay overnight if you need to provide care, including babysitting, or support to someone who is vulnerable. You should not make social visits that require overnight trips to friends and family.
Am I allowed to book an Airbnb or accommodation now? What if its to see family?
No, travelling on a mini-break is not a reason to leave your home. You also cannot go away overnight camping or hiking. Travelling to your holiday house is still permitted if you own, or often reside at the specific premises.
It's important that people limit their travel and minimise the potential spread of the virus. It is not the time to be travelling long distances to visit family and friends if you need to stop and stay overnight. This is about seeing those you need to if you need to.
You should also ask yourself if visiting is necessary or if you could use video conferencing, phone calls, text message or social media to stay in touch with people.
Can I take a holiday yet?
No going on a holiday is not a reason to leave your home.
What type of accommodation facilities are prohibited?
Camping grounds and caravan parks are not permitted to remain open because of the communal nature of many of the facilities offered. The only exceptions are where the occupants:
live there permanently
are without another permanent place of residence
have a permanent place of residence that is temporarily unavailable
have travelled to Victoria for work
were already staying there temporarily at the time the restrictions came into force and are unable to return to a permanent place of residence
need emergency accommodation as a result of family violence or other threats
require accommodation for work, where their work is helping to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Can I go camping?
Camping remains prohibited.
