G'day

Thought I would start this thread to see what others use as a revenge tactic for dropkicks that mess you about when you are selling online as some of us do from time to time, had a real top level dropkick yesterday that pissed me off bigtime, and some revenge would be sweet for sure, just funny suggestions please no killing or maiming necessary, just enough to wake these online turkeys up a bit as they are slowly destroying online sale sites.

Give you a rundown on the situation, yesterday was up at about 1am, went to the local flea market to sell some crap, spent the morning there until 12.30 pm, roasting in the heat, sold sfa so a big waste of time really at about $2.50 an hour for 8 hours work, home by about 1.30, knackered from the heat and loading said crap back into the trailer, got home had a cuppa and feeling completely flogged out needed a nanna nap, come about 2.30 I have just then dozed off, get a text message on the phone that wakes me up "hey mate still got the mower for sale" ok so I answer back, "yep still have it", about 5 more text messages back and forth, dozed off a couple of more times and then got woken back up again, and the dropkick eventually says "ok will be there at 4 only live pissing distance from your place", said you can come now if you want? " (because I am now awake anyway) " answers " no 4 is good" so send the address, now I am awake and still feel knackered but go out unload some crap from the trailer and get the mower out, give it a wipe over and start up to be sure, wait about, waiting, waiting, 4 o'clock comes and goes and no sign of the dropkick, so I head back inside as its still bloody hot and I feel ratshit, anyway I get a final text message, at about 4.05 that says "sorry to mess you about but decided on another mower", bloody time waster :poop: I thought, always wonder whether people who do this are just having some fun or are they really are just ***holes in real life?

cheers

Can't see to much of a problem with that other than you were cranky and tired. :p
He obviously found a better deal.
Unfortunately when selling to the public things like this are common. :Y:
At least he had the decency to call you at 405 and tell you he wasn't coming.....Unlike alot of people.

Unfortunately this is the nature of the beast when selling stuff, pretty much happens to everyone. Like Smoky bandit said at least he had the decency to let you know he was passing on the potential sale and like HoudiniHarry said if you want to sleep put the phone on silent or turn it off. Best resolution is grab a beer and enjoy it then repeat until satisfied :) :Y:

I always tell buyers, no holds, so if you want it you can come and get it now or take your chances at a later date. First in, best dressed etc.

As mentioned at least the bloke rang you to tell you that he was not coming.

I once had a guy who could only come on a Saturday arvo to collect an item. I asked him could he come in the morning or evening instead so that I wouldnt have to reschedule my whole day around his visit. He couldnt do it, arvo only. Swore blind he was definitely coming so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. 1pm was the arranged time. I had to reschedule my whole day. Anyway long story short, no sign of the bloke at 1.15pm so I rang him to see if he was close by or what? He told me casual as you like...'nah mate cant make it'. "thanks for letting me know' I replied and hung up the phone.

So I adopted a different tack since then. Too many dreamers/tyrekickers in the world to put up with so I just dont now!!

First in, best dressed, no holds.

I have started the process of selling both my cars with an eye to buying 2000 prado type 4wd. To date I have had 11 chinese scammers texting or emailing trying to get me to fall for a paypal over-payment scam while trying to make me take my car off of the used car websites.

They all use keywords like "final price" and "ASAP".

The first one gave me/family a laugh but it got annoying pretty quickly.

I got sick of tyrekickers, so I'm now be very firm in my replies
That way, only genuine buyers answer, most days.

And I only give the address when they are ready to come on the day.
And tell them "this is because of time wasters" that it's like this from now.

So now, I get less of these time wasters........... Happy days :sunny:

I dont know if its worth revenge in this instance but heres what i have done.

If you have his number just pop up a quick radio or free publication print add with an advert something like the following.

"Free 6 foot slate pool table, new felt, complete set with cues, balls, chalk and triangle. No further use as Mrs says sell, first in best dressed."

His phone will ring hot for days about an item he has no idea about. Works like a charm.

We have also learnt, only answer people who will leave there ph number. And address sent on day to there ph number once we have chatted.
Time wasters that have really mucked us about we go on car sales and leave bogus email and there ph number on lots of adds. They get lots of calls for all sorts of cars.

WHATS ya BEST price = The price it was advertised for !

Will ya take $xxxx - usually about 1/3 to 1/2 advertised price = YES as a deposit, and that its non refundable, Item will be on hold once the $ have cleared....

Can not be bothered with time wasters.... Offer me close to advertised price and I could accept; but not doing a game of ping pong.
