Any cricket punters out there enjoying the new format?
I've always loved the traditional format but its been even better in the newer format. Nice to see test cricket coming into the new century, very entertaining for mine.

Will have to wait and see, if the team batting in the dark gets beaten all the time, then it wont last long. The ball definatley swung in the humid night air, nothing during the day.

I'm a traditionalist too, but this was kinda cool.
However, Adelaide is generally a batsman's wicket. Things seem to have 'swung' into the bowlers favour so far.

See what happens over the next few days, could be a quick result the way things are going.

That new ball stands out like dogs n...s. I'm a traditionalist and like the tests and even day night games but not the hit and giggle stuff. I like this new format so far though :)

The T20's are great for getting kids into cricket. My two (10g & 8b) hated cricket, but loved going to 2 Melb Stars game and have been nagging for us to join up again. Its a great spectacle to attend with something always happening!

Yeah, i imagine it would great to be there. If it gets kids into sport then that fantastic i reckon.
I think a lot of what puts me off the hit and giggle is listening to Healy and company trying to ramp up the excitement. Trouble is he's doing the same type of commentary on the long game as well now and then there's Braithwaite as well.
I'm just and old fart who likes the skill of players who can play the long game rather than just going the tonk. And watching a quality spin bowler take a few overs or so and really pin down a batsman, great stuff.
But each is own, it's all good for cricket which is a magic game i reckon.

I'm no spring chicken either and prefer tests to the shorter forms.

I play myself and prefer the 2 day games myself, but find myself in the one day comp this year.
Doesn't suit my 'patient' batting technique one little bit.

I think that's the problem, test or long game batsmen and bowlers have to know how to pace themselves and 'play the mind game' with more than just a few overs in mind. You'll run the risk of getting dropped mate for some young bloke who's grown up having to make 6 or more for every over, and these blokes get into a long game and just throw the bat because they don't know any other way. It looks good for a while when they've got the upper hand, but then they realise (hopefully) that without patience they are putting the team at risk of defeat because they don't know how to leave a ball and not go out.

Best test of the series. Great test overall, better viewing more variation of conditions, nice to see every player working hard for a result. I'm loving it. Good to see the SA crowd turning out in support, 90K admission for 2 days is amazing.

Yep, good even game and looks like they're backed a winner with the day night format. Wonder what they'll pull in Melbourne if that crowd is any indication.

Well as a proud Victorian I can honestly say if the match was rolled out like for like (Friday start) I reckon 70 to 80 for opening day but as it's during Xmas period it's really anyone's guess.

I'll be right for a bit. I keep wicket and open the batting. The Capt doesn't mind me soaking up a few of the openers overs while the ball scratches up. Makes it easier for the big hitters later facing the 2nd rate bowlers.
My worst opening stand this year has been 42, so my opening partner and I are going OK. Mind you, he is doing all the damage! We made 97 together 2 games ago and I went out first on 23 in the 17th over ;)
