Interesting day battening down the high-rise. Beaches getting flogged this morning, don't look like much from up high but the waves out the back are 5-6m and heaps of sand shifting. Difficult to stand on the roof 170m up.

There's something mesmerising about big seas

The life savers have closed the beaches up here. They are saying they will fine people who even walk on the beach..
Good luck with that.

They have had enough... They had to Rescue 43 Idiot Surfers and 4 swimmers from Noosa yesterday... After telling People for the past few days NOT TO SWIM..
and Experienced Surfers Only Their Patience has worn out...

LW....

Trouble with these type of weather systems is even the experts are only theorising. Plenty have gone back out to sea, re-built and come back in, don't recon it's over for a while yet and while she's doing circles off the coast, the seas are going to keep building, at least the tides will be dropping on the waning moon.

My Model (the Brunette) says it will head east then back up north a bit further and Intensify into a Cat 3..... The waters off the Gold Coast is a very unusual 27deg ATM... Cyclones are made in water over 25deg..... It isn't over yet, but our forecast for the week-end is a few Showers now...

And that's fine.
But trying to fine some one for walking along the beach.
Wtf.

Typical Monsoon season Nightjar... But you never know what will happen when Oma gets back up north a bit. Something might come out of all that Rain and Cloud over there...

Smokey, the Lifesavers close beaches as a last resort for Safety... If you choose to swim at a closed beach and get into Trouble then they have to risk their lives to rescue you... Why should they do that? After all they are Volunteers. But they Do.. as I said above after what happened at Noosa yesterday, they risked their lives many times to rescue Idiots who were warned to stay out of the water. Only for Experienced Surfers only .. That is being a Nuisance to the Public... People were swept off their feet, just walking along the waters edge..... So they have to get Tough as People wont listen... Not Their Fault.. Its the idiots that Wont Listens Fault... People who choose to walk on the beach at Low tide wont get into trouble... Walk at High tide and there is a great risk of you getting swept off your feet with the Scarping Back waves and then you are in trouble... Its not real hard obeying Rules.. After all they are there because of past Tragedies....

All they will do is call the Cops and the Cops will Arrest you and charge you with Public Nuisance...
Lifesavers are Volunteers and are not paid..
Lifeguards are paid and they are back on Duty in a few months time... They also have more 'Powers' than a Lifesaver...

I agree for swimmers..But come on...being fined for .walking along the beach..The water is 10 mtrs away....What a Joke....lifesavers have never even patroled this beach ...Ever....:N:

If they have Never Patrolled that beach Ever and you Do become unlucky then there is a very good chance you are gone Forever.... All it takes is one strong surge and a Scarped wall 1' high and you can quite quickly be in trouble. Get Knocked off your feet by a 3' Back wave and you are swept out of your depth very quickly. Swallow a mouthful of water at the same time and you ARE gone forever. O:) ...
Anyhow it's up to you, The Closures have been put in place for a reason, Not cause they want to disrupt your Day....
Cyclones and Cyclone Swells are something Not to be taken lightly.... Trust me.. I thought I was one of those 'Experienced Surfers' Years ago and had to be Rescued.... Respect the Ocean and it will Respect you... Taunt the Ocean and it will take you... Your Choice...

I was on the Gold Coast a few years back and in normal weather a wave knocked me A over T and I ended up under water by the time I got to my feet I was 300m further down the beach frightened the heck out of me.
