I was at Jaycar the other day and bought a Quadcopter with optional video camera (another one of my impulse buys ) http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=GT3895&form=CAT2&SUBCATID=1056#8. Cost was $149 for the Quadcopter + $39 for the camera which I thought was quite reasonable. Looking them up, they're actually a decent unit. You can also buy a bubble blower, water sprayer, retractable winch as well as various replacement parts.

I haven't had a chance to fly it yet but from the looks of videos online they go alright, range is said to be around 100mtrs vertical and horizontal which is incredible.

Inflight view from optional $39 camera (Guys are also mounting their HD GoPro's on these with no problems)

Demonstrating flip control and handling indoors

Anyone else got one of these?

Why not! I wont be swinging my detector all day everyday and besides we can keep an eye out for Nundle Guy and on that note I've got just the right one for the job. Her name is Sharlene!

We hire a company to take photos of properties we sell and these things are awesome. The pilot actually has to be a fully licensed helicopter pilot and they have to be registered with CASA. The drone they use plus all the licensing cost them over $30K. They have lots of issues with privacy etc. but these things are better than anything.
Soon these things will be delivering our mail.
