Not to mention: "we have seen metal detectorists detect on the beaches, risking to be swept out to sea"! I am sure most of you, who are into beach detecting, have already seen the footage of a detectorist, yesterday, caught by a freak wave on the Gold Coast!

On a positive note.
Just prior Alfred my youngest ( a tree surgeon ) & `i` decided to plant out a few trees on a basically barren headland.
We figured that we have been using this area for recreational fishing ect & why not put something back into the environment for our usage.
It was a treacherous place for shipwrecks transporting lumber in the 1800`s but for some reason it was not identified with Hoop Pine Trees as markers as they have done on many other Headlands.
It took a grappling hook & rope to climb the cliff face of which not many folk have ever laid feet on.
Well water-ed in now with this recent deluge.

Those who risk it should be charged with “acts to endanger life”
Short update: power went out @8pm last night and came back on at 4pm today.240mm rain in 12 hours, ground saturated and last two large trees at the front of the house. Wind was like 4 jet engines roaring all night and my new colorbond fence got damaged by council trees that just snapped. Good news is no damage to house sheds and importantly ourselves. Thank God. Still raining and could get another 150 over the next 12-24 hours, hopefully not. Stay safe folks. Mackka North Brissie
Frightening stuff Mackka, but safe and well is the main thing - fences can be replaced and trees replanted. Hopefully the power stays on and the storm blows itself out ASAP.

We lost power 11.36 pm on Friday, small branch took out our lead in cable, energex turned up next day and made safe by totally removing leadin. Now camped in caravan, for convenience until sparky cam obtain and replace insulating cover on hockey stick, potentially 2 more days if energex return in a timely manner to run new leadin. Decided I need some RnR, so off to goldcoast beaches tomorrow 
There's so much sand been stripped off those beaches, I'm guessing there must be spots with pre-decimals near the surface. If you can find those pockets, you'll be in silver city, because there were no viable metal detectors back in the day.Decided I need some RnR, so off to goldcoast beaches tomorrow
