Boy , you blokes are hard markers, the music was good, all Australian, Rikki Lee did a great job and the beach scene was a bit of fun, the indigenous greeting was ok, bit slow. The flag raising and oath are never going to change, it's protocol.
The worst of it was the speeches.
In general it was pretty light hearted.
What would you blokes have them do?
Are you blokes against the Games in general?
I am not looking for a s...t fight, just an honest answer.
Cheers

Hell Ill say it.
It had bugger all to do with show casing Australia it was all about youre on aboriginal land.
It was one big long brown nosing ceremony.

Edit: before anyone accuses me of being racist with the above, wrong. Most people I know are aboriginal, my friends are aboriginal, I married an aboriginal, and my kids are half aboriginal.

I dont give two farts what colour skin you have nor where you come from, I just dont like BS.

The welcome to country ceremony is a modern phenomenon and NOT tradition

Well said, political correctness gone mad, it's a sporting event.

I didn't even know it was on.... :|
knew something was happening but that's about it. It'll all be about big money making more money somehow anyway in the long run... lets just hope the home team flogs the lot of em fair n square(no ball pampering happening stuff), send em home with their tails between their legs while we yell "WE WIN YA BLUDGERS.... HA !", that'll show em.

Lol I think thats what I was trying to say in a round about way :D

Okay, so forget the welcome to country ceremony, I thought the rest was a light hearted look at Aussie beach culture. Pretty tough to come up with something new and original. I'm a bit like you Madtuna, I don't give a rats arse about your skin color, it's about the person, my eldest daughter is in a relationship with an aboriginal bloke and he's been the best thing for her.
We are sometimes quick to criticise, major events like the Com Games cause an interuption to people's lives but they also create some great economic benefits as well.
Each to their own I suppose.

Are there guna be smoking hot women (except the French chicks) snowboarders in it.?? .. wait, that was Winter Olympics... com games? Meh

Nah better edit that .................... :N:
Manpa just be careful he doesn't get dark on her .................. boom boom :D

Oh come on people. The giant paper mache whale was impressive. I am sure the South Koreans are on the phones now asking for our advice.

well said madtuna, if people just put away the bull sxxx and got on with living together we would have a far better country

I do like the games, I was just very disappointed with the opening ceremony.

Not a table tennis fan either but well worth a watch on the 10th when little Welsh player Anna Hursey aged 11 starts her singles campaign. Youngest athlete at the games and slays opponents 3 times her age.
