I tell all the younger ones that I'm using my ears to see into the ground  so that I can find lost things. :D

Jas and myself went out again today and braved the hot conditions to see if we could score our first pre-dec coins. We headed out early and headed for an old village that we spotted a while ago to see what treasures it may hold. For an old place, pre 1890, it was very trashy, with only a handful of houses in the town proper and only half of those being lived in I assume these guys just love a drink. Ring pulls and bottle tops everywhere!! Although the bottle tops put Jason on a massive hunt for some old finds that I'm sure he will post later. We found some old tools, Maybe from old road workers or workers who may have been installing the nearby rail line many years ago. But alas the old coins somehow still eluded me.

I think this is an old axe head of some description

Not only did we find bottle tops, some of the tops were still connected to the bottles, lots and lots and lots of bottles.

This is just a small sample. Jason will show you the rest of the haul later I'm sure.

We also found some modern dollars which went toward a hard earned schooner at the pub for lunch.

The 705 went well, except for some troubles with the external speaker deciding it was going to go to the lowest volume possible intermittently for an hour or so. Then decided to clear its throat and has worked since, hooray.

So all in all, we had a good day!!

Nothing like a few bottles to top off the day Dan. ;)

Ok you guys find the history and leave the gold for me! Keep your pull tab discriminators set to full and find all the copper and silver you can carry away!

Since we detect at night people mistake us for fisherman (we wear waders in winter) - and ask if we caught anything yet - so we joke with each other and wish "tight lines" whenever we go out detecting.

You guys can keep history and gold rings, ten to twenty bucks in modern coins a day keeps me happy. Most of jewelry I have found is a junk.
