Just posting to let it be known that Ramjet started a Topic called The forums oldest coin in which we are all searching from the current time, working backwards year by year posting photos of coins found detecting within Australia, it has rules that can be seen at the start of the thread, so if you are a detecting coin hunter and want a bit of fun to join in with, its the Topic to follow at the moment ,..for sure.(no prize offered as yet,..but lots of fun and about to hit the predecimals soon)
Silver.

I hadn't thought of offering a prize but that's a great thought. Any ideas on how to choose a prize winner? Maybe a couple of prizes as we hit certain dates?

I'm sure I could dig out a silver or two and pass them on via Jaros(I know how to get them that far) for dispersal,....
I could throw in a few stamps and post paks as well so as not to place a burden on Jaros for reposting to winners(hope that would be AOK Jaros)
there is a 1950 threepence for the halfway through the 20th century mark

They are only cleaned finds dug from mother earth and spritzed up by me(but I will send them already in those cardboard and plastic single coin sleeves).
This type of thing.

How does that sound for a start off by me RJ.

Sounds great Silver. Very generous of you. You can send them to me and I'll post em to the winner... maybe ;) I have done it before when I donated raffle prizes. I have a couple of ideas for prizes. How shall we decide on a prize winner?

Pm me a mailing spot Ramjet and I'll pop them strait in the mail to you,...they are ready to go,..that way jaros is off the hook from my pressure.

So I ended up posting the two coins above to Ramjet(just done).
And I found a 1914 shilling for the 100 year photo post prize,....A little blemished , but after being in the ground for probably 70 years(fairly worn) you've got to expect a fair bit of wear and tear. But of course it will add to the excitement and hopefully it'll be something the postee(read winner) doesn't already have,...and of course I did dig it out of the ground with these grubby little fingers(and cleaned it up with care) and it will be something that is 100 years old,...I'd better shut up now and just show you the coin,....here it is,....1914 shilling.

So,...I'm just,...putting it in its little protector,....

Righto,...well that looks a little more professional,....The new owner(when they get it) might want to clean it more than I would,...but the way it is it's not going to get any worse anyway.
So that will go into the post to Ramjet on Monday(hopefully),...fingers crossed.
I can just see everyone holding off on posting a 1915 so they can post the1914 photo(I won't post on the winning dates,...promise)(open slather for all others though).I suppose we will all see how it goes for the 1954 and 1950 photo posts pretty soon.

The above 1914 shilling went into the post to Ramjet today and will be on its way at the moment of typing(in an Australia Post truck on the Highway). Luckily I found enough Money to cover the postage and the bubble pack bags while out detecting today,... so the coins were from the ground and all the postage covered by finds from the ground,...I'd say it didn't really cost me anything but a bit of fun time hunting to make those three coins move to where they will end up going,...Easy Money ! the rest is up to Ramjet now,....Hurrah RJ for coming up with such a good idea for a bit of fun.
