Coiltek 6" mono Tdi coil. First impressions & small coil comparisons.

Just got this today, the Coiltek 6" mono Tdi coil. It came with mounting hardware for the White's lower rod, but the rubber washer didn't impress me much, so it ended up on a Minelab lower instead and much better for it.. Tested on a Tdi Pro OZ, just an air test on a 1 grain ingot. Clear signal at 12 centimeters, 4+ inches, whispers out to 15 plus centimeters, 6 inches+. That a Tdi Pro air test, ground balance off, gain at 5, frequency in the middle, 10us, in ALL, 1 grain ingot.. I'll shortly do a comparison with other 6" mono coils, Miner John, White's, older Coiltek, etc Sadie etc, whatever small gold coils I can find to compare with. Start with air tests and finish off later with in the ground tests in the field.

Don't worry about testing the Whites 7.5 Coil, I tested the 7.5 DF version and seeing as it has a 3 or 4 inch coil right in the centre it should have been very hot but it is blind as a bat, and has the same performance as the 12" when it comes to small nuggets,

Too many small coils a lot will end up being sold off soon I suspect. Looking at the old Jimmy Duelfield 10 x 6, NF Sadie, 10 x 6 Longreach Razorback, Miner John's 9 x 5 folded mono and the 6" folded mono, older Coiltek 6" mono, Mini Jimmy 6 x 4. White's 150 6" mono. Need to clean house a bit, got a few with my Sl and more with the Pro. Looking forward to doing the comparisons. Suspect the new Coiltek will be a keeper. but I'll wait and see.

Just added an image of the 1 grain ingot between an Australian 5c and us 25c coin. Helps put things in context. Electronic panning..

Preliminary report, air test only, still more to do but just giving you a taste.
Tdi Pro, gain max, conductivity in ALL, frequency full left (best for emi), 10us, using Nokia MD11 external amplified speaker.. Steady repeatable signals ONLY NO WHISPERS...

Coiltek 6" Mono Tdi series. 1 Grain ingot 11cm, 5 cents 32cm, 3 pence 30cm, 0.5 gram gold coin 25cm, 1/2 Sovereign 35cm, 1 penny 34cm.

Nugget Finder 'Sadie' 8 x6 1 Grain ingot 12cm, 5 cents 30cm, 3 pence 30cm, 0.5 gram gold coin 26cm, 1/2 Sovereign 35cm, 1 penny 34cm.

Miner John 6" Folded Mono 1 Grain ingot 8cm, 5 cents 27cm, 3 pence 27cm, 0.5 gram gold coin 22cm, 1/2 Sovereign 31cm, 1 penny 32cm.

Miner J' 9 x 5 Folded Mono 1 Grain ingot 8cm, 5 cents 28cm, 3 pence 26cm, 0.5 gram gold coin 22cm, 1/2 Sovereign 33 cm, 1 penny 32cm.

Nugget Finder was more consistent and had stronger 'hits' than Coiltek 6" Tdi series on the 1 grain ingot, it appears to be leading at this stage, but I have more coils to air test over the weekend, grounds tests will follow just a bit after that. How they perform in the ground is the real story but I can't get out of town just yet.

Older Coiltek Goldstalker certainly fails to impress, the new Tdi series along with Sadie and Razorback Longreach 10 x 6 mono do impress me.

I guess we can draw our own conclusions. Ground tests to follow.

Dan79 if the new Coiltek 6" Tdi Series coil is any indication then the whole lineup does offer interesting possibilities.. Only have to look at the
performance of the Tdi Series coil over the older Goldstalker Series coil, a significant step up.. yes the 11 mono is probably the best size.

0.5 grain gold coin. Winner is Razorback Longreach 10 x 6 mono at 27cm, second goes to Nugget Finder Sadie at 26cm.

5c coin. Winners are Coiltek Tdi 6" mono at 32cm draws with Razorback Longreach 10 x 6 mono also at 32cm, second Jimmy duelfield at 31cm.

3 pence. Winner is Razorback Longreach 10x6 mono at 32cm, second shared 3 ways between Jimmy duelfield, Sadie, Coiltek Tdi 6" all at 30cm.

Secret test location for ground tests, not my back yard! Results on Thursday.

Rich red earth, dirty quartz, ironstone, hot rocks and all the good stuff we have come to expect on the goldfields.

Rain and thunderstorms combined with clouds of large flies conspired to delay testing, but failed to stop it. Results posted this weekend.

Moist ground made bad soil worse.. all coils suffered equally.

Tdi Pro Oz Series settings, gain 5, ground balance 8.5-9, Frequency all the way left, Conductivity in ALL, built in speaker volume max, threshold steady past warbles. Batteries changed and kept fresh. Ground was heavily mineralized and a bit moist. Pulse Delay 10.

Targets were buried and depth measurements are accurate to the nearest centimeter. Target response needed to be a clear repeatable signal on every sweep in both directions, no matter how faint.
